I was hyped about Kill la Kill back when Studio Trigger first came out.

And I was still blown away.

It was like Avatar; The Last Airbender Season 3 Finale levels of impressed. I went into it thinking "No way this can be as good as I want it to be" and leaving it half way going "WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

I like the lazed state of it. When I watched it was a good turn around from all the boobs and butts.

A small part of me worries when I get hyped for something that it will disappoint, the more hype the more worry. Seeing as this was sold as "THE NEXT THING FROM THE CREATORS OF GURREN LAGANN, AND LITTLE WITCH" I was pretty worried. Thankfully the show was everything I wanted it to be and more. It also birthed one of my favorite soundtracks of all time, it's so sick.

I sadly have not watched as much from this past year as I should have... Lots of stuff back-logged for me, but a couple series did manage to stand out for me.

1. Attack on Titan - This show had everything I excepted and more. I watched it after it finished, so the hype had a lot to live up to. I was not disappointed one bit. This series quickly jumped into my Top 5 favorite anime in general. It was just such an emotional roller coaster all the way through.

2. Psycho-Pass - This series started in the Fall Season of 2012, however, it did not finish till the Winter Season of 2013, so it still counts...<.< This series had Gen Urobuchi strike again in just as much a psychological manner as usual, and had you questioning right and wrong all through the series. The philosophical tones of the series were fitting, and the setting perfect. Another series that broke into my Top 10 all time favorites.

3. Rozen Maiden - It seems this series had some mixed views all around in general... However, I found the series pretty damn interesting. Mostly the characterization of Jun, who kinda got the shaft in the older series. The artwork was also pretty different from the original series, and while it may not be quite as good, I still thought it looked beautiful enough to warrant the watch. It kept more focus on the second half of the manga unlike the old series which did its own thing, so it could be a bit confusing for those who only saw the anime. One of the more underrated titles of 2013, IMO. Also, Suigintou is still awesome. XD

Gundam Build Fighters I thought it would be just one big Gunpla commercial. Which I would have been fine with but it turned out to be much more then one. It's become one of my favorite Gundams of all time. It's just so fun to watch. It's a funny, action packed. love letter to all of Gundamdom.

I am currently, as of this moment, listening to Kill la Kill OST track 11, Light your heart. It's as up beat as freaking possible.

I blame the director, Hiroyuki Ishima has a really good track record. Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Dead Leaves.
The soundtracks are especially addictive, I'm not sure i Kill la Kills track will beat out Panty and Stockings however.

Something about those inspiring tracks' like "Dancefloor Orgy" and "Beverly Hills Cock"

Nothing beats Satsuki's theme however, I don't think that one is ever leaving my head. Sure sure "Don't lose your Waaaaay" is the new "ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWA" but Satsuki's theme has that inspirational feel to it. When that track plays, you want to line up with the rest of those 1-Stars and salute. You can feel her power straight out of that song, while Ryuko hasn't yet hit the moment in which "Don't lose your way" hits real impact.

Like, despite hearing Row Row fight the Powa every single episode, it never hit me until it played behind Kitan way over in Episode 21 or so. Slowly building in that moment only to play at full blast at just the right time REALLY got us back during that.

I'm waiting for the one moment which that song has emotionally grips me, because I expect it to show up eventually.

Light your heart up is one of my favorites, I also like I want to know, and Suck Your Blood. As for Satsuki and her theme well... I feel like Satsuki frown alone could beat me in a fight. Also I lost me shit when the rap part of Before My Body is Dry came on. I'm trying to cath every Gurren homage in the show as there is a lot. I'm still waiting for them to go to space. YOU KNOW IT WILL HAPPEN.

Attack on Titan - sooo good. how to describe

WataMote really impressed me. I had very high expectations for it before it even came out. Not only did it live up to those expectations, but at times it even surpassed them. Its tough for a series to do that when you've hyped it up for yourself.

On a lesser note, Miss Monochrome impressed as well. Its one of only three shorts i've enjoyed enough to justify watching it despite the insubstantial length - the other two being Morita-san wa Mukuchi and Muromi-san. Actually, Muromi-san aired in 2013 as well, so I guess you could say that also impressed me. For a short, anyway.
