And finally, last but certainly not least, we will be adding Z/X IGNITION to our Winter 2014 Lineup!

Starting on Thursday, January 9 at 10:50am Pacific Time , Crunchyroll members in the following territories will be able to enjoy Z/X IGNITION: United States of America, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Central America, South America, French speaking Europe, United Kingdom, Ireland, German speaking Europe, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.

Are you guys sure that you've set TMS Entertainment shows region restrictions correctly? My country isn't on the list but I can see two series added from them. Maybe it is a bit silly of me to point that but I prefer to clean things now than having to stop watching because it'll disappear.

I like how CR's streaming service is almost like a monopoly on anime streaming in the west.

Well, no, Funimation's streaming service hasn't quite been crushed yet. Which is unfortunate, since every season sees two or three really good looking titles, that can't even theoretically be seen outside north america (and even here their streaming service is marginally functional at best. their site is borked). And Daisuki's trying to get itself started, even though so far their only real claim to fame is getting Monogatari a month before CR does.

So we don't have a monopoly here yet. Just like how Google doesn't technically have a monopoly on search engines. It's just very obviously better than any of the alternatives.

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it would be so awesome if CR got the rights to all of the anime ever. On the other hand, the faint scraps of competition give them even more of an incentive to continue to be better at everything than everybody else.

I have the same question as "ziemiak"...

Is Z/X IGNITION available in Poland? Because I can access its page normally, but Poland its neither "French speaking Europe" or "German speaking Europe"

Of the stuff I want to see (D-Frag, Hamatora, Nisekoi and Wizard Barristers) D-Frag has been picked up by Funimation so I can't watch that and Hamatora is currently not available for UK streaming. So, hopefully two of the unannounced title will be Nisekoi and Wizard Barristers.

Still, at least we got the inevitable Silver Spoon announcements today, back on my list.

This is where show exclusivity deals have their more negative aspect.

As a general rule, competition beats monopoly hands-down. It is much better to have options, and to have companies striving to improve themselves so as not to slip behind their rivals. However, this only works where there is true choice. If both Tesco and Asda (or insert local supermarkets depending on your country) sell the same products, you get to choose depending on multiple factors. Weighing price versus location versus convenience and a dozen other little factors. you can shop in either place, but the existence of each other and all the other chains and even local shops keep them from just coasting.

Keeping the analogy, it is then like having a handful of your must-have items only available in one of the stores. But if that store isn't convenient (store is far away, store's opening times are more limited, other store has a petrol station and your car needs fuelling in the same trip, other store is near other shops you need) or if what you need is split between both stores, it becomes a monumental pain in the backside.

If all shows did (or at least could) appear on multiple services, it would really help the overall picture. Crunchyroll just serves some of us better than the alternatives, especially here as, well, this is the CR forum/community. And the multiple-viewing-options approach wins hands-down.
But maybe you prefer day-and-date with ads, rather than paying for a subscription, so CR isn't the right fit.
Or maybe your internet is crappy, or you like to watch on a commute, or you use an ISP with a cap which doesn't count overnight usage (I used to use one of these... great for system updates, Linux ISOs, fansubs, etc), at which point a service like the UK's Wakanim has download-to-rent and download-to-own for offline viewing. Personally, not a good fit for my needs/preferences in a simulcast, but great for back catalogue and might be the only way simulcasts could be feasible for some people.

Competition works best when the playing field is level. In this case, if all services had a shot at showing the same shows. Some would decide they still couldn't afford it. Some would decide it didn't fit in their catalogue. There would still be shows that only showed up on specific services, but this would be more down to choice than down to being locked out.

And then all services would live and die on how good they were, rather than which hows they stitched up. No company could rest on their laurels. And the companies would get to see if their business models really held up against the competition. And if something was losing them subscribers/viewers, they would have to address.

I can't see it happening any time soon, sadly. But it really is a concern. I really get worried when one company gains a monopoloy and becomes the only existing option for something. But, in this case, it's almost worse. Certainly in the UK (I can't speak for other countries), Crunchyroll seems to be the only really strong option going right now. But all that does is make me (and others) hope that CR gets the rights to everything. In effect, hoping the other services crash & burn and get the hell out. Instead of hoping each service grows in is own way to make its own stamp on the market, even with the same shows.

So I cannot watch Z/X IGNITION. But my country is completely surrounded...

...by countries that can watch it. Why? Why is my wonderful country left out?

I agree.

There are a few of interesting anime this season.

Apparently CR has all but those interesting ones =/

They haven't finished announcing titles yet, be patient! More will be announced on Monday!
Crunchyroll should pick up Nisekoi since it's an Aniplex title, not sure about Wizard Barristers, but they may do!

I second Wizard Barristers, but I would REALLY like to see Sakura Trick make the cut.
