Hey, just curious - why is it that whenever I'm browsing Crunchyroll and scroll over to the left to see the "related anime" it ALWAYS lists Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Bleach as being related to the show? It's a bit silly when there's absolutely nothing in common between any of them and the anime I'm browsing.

For instance, Photo Kano lists Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, Shugo Chara, Skip Beat, and REBORN! as being "related" to it. I'm confused.

For reference, I can't stand Naruto/Shippuden and Bleach.

Hi,

I hope you don't mind, I've moved this over to Support, since it seems like a question for the site. Hopefully someone who knows will be able to give you some details.

I'm guessing that the system is automated and uses tags internally (partly the genre system, possibly other things like publishers, etc), as well as popularity rankings, but that is all simply a guess! I don't know for sure, but hopefully someone who does can jump in here.

Thanks, I didn't know where to post it, but the anime forum seemed to be a safe bet.

And Photo Kano doesn't share anything similar to Naruto, as far as I can tell - that was just an easy illustration to make, since it seems to be the most obviously unrelated anime I've come across. The other anime I watch might share a few characteristics, I'm not sure (I watch a lot of Shonen anime, and ... well, pretty much everything, really! Except Naruto/Shippuden and Bleach etc).

Where are you seeing this? I don't know of anywhere where you can scroll left to see "Related" shows (but that could just be due to us using different browsers or devices I guess).

There is a "Viewers Also Liked" section at the bottom of each show page, and if that's what you are talking about then my guess would be that it's because even though Naruto, Bleach, etc might not be related in terms of genre or story, or anything else, there are a large enough number of people who watch those shows who also watched the show in question (such as Photo Kano) that they come up.

I agree it's not very useful if some other factors aren't also being taken into consideration. Yes, we all already know that a large number of viewers like Naruto and Bleach, so it does seem kind of silly that CR keeps pointing that out.

I use CR mainly on my Xbox 360. If I'm going to watch a show, I'd rather do it on my big screen TV while relaxing on my couch than on my tiny (especially by comparison) monitor in my uncomfortable computer chair.

I use the 360 app as well and have seen the same thing. I'm guessing it's a feature that hasn't been fully implemented, so every show is just populated with that default list of "related" shows.
