Who hasn't had an "oops" purchase before? I'd like to add two titles that in my opinion I wish my future self would've stopped my past self from buying so my present self would have the money back to buy something I felt would have been a better choice!

Don't just list the title, give a little reason why you felt it was not worth you buying the anime. I've got two titles.

"The House of Five Leaves"

I thought this would be different, but different good. A story about a samurai who is terribly shy and doesn't have self confidence? Interesting I thought! Took some getting used to looking at the shy samurai, his face looked sloppily drawn to me. Looked like an alien face to me. After watching the entire anime, I felt as if the story never developed any real depth of the main character and the supporting characters. I've seen slice of life anime that had more of a pulse than this series (imo). I had high hopes for this series and I went and bought it without checking it out in detail first. All I took from this was that one of the members of the gang made really good pickles at his bar. I would've liked to try those pickles. It could have lessened the regret I had for buying this set..

"Air"
Wow. Just wow. Let it be known I've never done drugs and I've never been drunk. I sincerely watched this series with full attention and I think booze and pills would've made this show bearable for me. The whole show about a girl in bed, a strange guy visiting and some random dialogue. There was a faint glimmer of hope for this series when somewhere in the middle they did a flashback scene and there was this samurai and a woman trapped somewhere and it looked as if they had to fight themselves to safety. Then it went back to present day with the girl and strange guy. All I can remember about this show was the girl liked a dinosaur plush she had, and she would make a "rawr" sound. That sounded cute. But that is it. I was bored to tears watching this show.

To those people who may have enjoyed these, I mean no harm, I just couldn't enjoy watching them, so this is just my opinion. What about everyone else? What have you guys purchased and wished you never did and spent the money on a different series?

Yukikaze, though I suspected since there were only the few episodes. I pretty much bought it cause I liked the books, and it was interesting to get cinematics of key points in the story :s

I blind-bought Samurai Champloo a couple years ago and regretted it because it wasn't what I expected. I've acclimated to it since, I was just expecting to be what I later found Sword of the Stranger to actually be. Now though I don't buy anything without seeing all of it first, illicitly if required. I don't see a point in gambling on hearsay.

Also, I wouldn't have bought FLCL if I'd known the subs would be so hard to read.

I hear Hollywood's adapting that.

Bought the Sora No Otoshimino movie The Angeloid of Clockwork. A large portion of it was a recap of the series, and the story wasn't all that interesting. I wasn't expecting much but I thought it would at least be as funny as the show.

RahXephon, purchased in 2003 as it came out on seven individual DVDs with a $29.99 MSRP.

I believed the hype and positive reviews, but I could never get the show to make enough sense to me to enjoy it. I should have cut my losses and turned in the first DVD for whatever credit GameStop would give me (this is back when they sold used DVDs.) Instead, I figured it would get better and kept buying them.

The full set now sits in a bookcase as a reminder to be willing to give things a try based on others' recommendations, but to remember that it's my opinion that counts in the end.
