I prefer to sit in the camp of...."Both".

In the sense that I pay Crunchyroll for the Anime/Manga and buy the Blu-Ray/DVDs from FUNimation! \(~.~)/ Everybody wins!

You can take the third option of Hulu Plus. Yes it has that dreaded "you pay money but still get ads....."
- And HuluPlus can <bleep> me. I'll never pay them again and still get ads on paid streaming, that idea is beyond ludicrous in my book.

Funimation has a number of titles I really like/want to see, but (at least last time I was on) it is slightly more expensive and the the sight navigations is pretty bad and takes forever to load. I've also had a lot of video playback issues. These are all issues I've never had on crunchyroll, which is why I've stuck with it.

For me the answer is both! They both have good back catalogs, good simulcasts and sure while it would be nice if there was one company with all 700 titles and all the simulcasts and home video and dubbing... some competition can be healthy too I guess.

So I subscribe to both. Simple enough. Some days that means I can watch Nobunagun 10 hours earlier on Funimation, other days it means I can watch AoT earlier on Crunchyroll. I can turn off the subs here, Funi has dubs (not my favorite but my kids and wife don't like subs).

Viz can drop right out of anime for all I care, hate their Hulu garbage ads.

And AoD can just be for Sentai dubs too as I don't want to pay for a third thank you and with Chuunibyou Ren going to Crunchyroll after IS2 and BTB came here it looks like they are truly out of the simulcast biz, phew!

Yea it looks like that what I'm going to do, keep both. Money isn't the issue I don't mind having both I was just trying to figure out if having both would be worth it. I have my list of anime that's on Funimation that isn't on Crunchyroll and vise versa so I guess when I finish that list I'll stick to just having Crunchyroll. Maintaining two subscriptions suck but I already have amazon prime as well so I'm taking on three. Sucks that Hulu+ didn't work out for me

Have you tried Funimation lately? Their old site was terrible. Their new one isn't the best but at least they seem to have solved the performance issues, both navigation and streaming that they had before. It could still be organized better but really, it is quite usable now so give it another try if you haven't been there since the summer.

Same here, if they were able to get rid of the ads I would sign up for it, but I think that's why they have so much media compared to other outlets because they do have the ads. SUCKS BALLS FOR VIEWERS THOUGH!!

I guess if I had issues like that I wouldn't want it either I'm hoping I can get through the anime I want to watch on there as quickly as possible then only keep Crunchyroll, because I haven't had any of those issues when I've watched...so far at least.

Hmm, perhaps this was already answered and I'm missing it, but does Funie offer any titles that Crunchy does not? I too do not mind funding both, especially if I can find more haremz anime over at Funie. :3

As I said above, careful who/where you read about Funimation. Their site was indeed dreadful until September but it is a lot better now.

Yea I agree with hpulley I wanted Funimation before but couldn't deal with the dreaded website but now it seems usable. When I get into a marathon of an anime without any problems it becomes easy to forgive Funimation for it's other aspects of the website.

Their current site is pretty meh at best. They don't have any programmers on staff so odd layout issues like dead links and missized windows which I've seen since its inception still exist to this day.

To say that it's an improvement from the prior site just isn't saying a lot since I know 12 year olds with better design sense and programming skills than what had been shown by that utter monstrosity that they had up previously for about 2 years too long without fixing

Crunchyroll doesn't have the below...just to name a few. And you can watch as subtitled in fact one anime they share Attack on Titan is only available as subtitled...at least until they dub it. (This list might change at some point, but is relevant now.)

PS. Don't take this list as recommendations I haven't seen everything I listed I just tried to name a good amount for your convenience. But honestly most of the anime of their site isn't on CR and vise versa.

Anime in General
Fairy Tail
Akira
Black Butler
Baka & Test
Case Closed (Love this one)
Blood C
Fruits Basket
Jormungand
Ikki Tousen
Suzuka

Harem
Date a Live
Ah! My Goddess
Girls Bravo
Gun Sword
Love Hina
My bride Is A Mermaid
Heaven's lost Property
Negima!
Shuffle (One of my favorites)
Sankarea

* Highschool DxD (someone posted that it was censored but I haven't checked myself, don't know what episode they might have nudity in so if your interested get a trial of Funimation first and verify yourself. Then you'll know for certain if they do or don't censor.)

I'll be honest I don't click on anything other then shows and find what I'm looking for and call it a day. As long as I stick to that I don't run into any of the problems your describing.

Ah, tyvm, I see. So most of what Funie might offer is the Blu-Ray/DVD which they'd licensed. Still useful. Neat.

Yea basically anything they dubbed themselves is going to be on their in other words what they licensed. Which might be a blow to CR in the near future because they are going to dub the anime Attack on Titan so CR might have to take it down from their site. I think that's why Fairy Tale isn't on CR anymore. But don't take my word for it I'm just pondering out loud.

I'm just taking a wild guess but I think that Kondansha owns the master license for AOT so they are having CR have streaming rights and Funimation with streaming and home video rights. So it's all up to Kondansha if they want to take AOT off of CR (not funimation) but I dought they'll take off AOT since I guessing CR and Kondansha are partners especially due to the manga section of CR.

It's kind of like Nobunagun. YTV most likely has the master rights for international release. YTV and Crunchy mus have some type of deal to have CR simulcast their shows. Funimation just bought the rights too so Funimation shouldn't be able to keep it for them selves.

Fairytail was on CR before Funi licensed it and I guess Funimation bought off the rights from TV Tokyo so they have the sole right to stream it now.
