Funimation is great for this because I can have something dubbed playing while I work.

Dubs definitely have it over subs for that purpose. I can't watch something subbed while fixing breakfast or dinner for fear of missing the subtitles (not to mention the back of my chair blocks viewing the very bottom of my HDTV screen from the kitchen).

With CR, I just wish I could get my slection on quality (SD) to stick.

Often if someone is having that problem, changing it to something interim (such as 480p or 720p) and then back to SD will fix the problem.

Did you choose SD as the default video setting under video preferences in your account settings?

(Just wasn't sure if you did and it's not sticking, or if you might not've realized you could).

CR for me. I like the community here a lot better. Also, Funi uses the same 5 voice actors for all their anime, so that gets annoying really quick.

Well CR has the most selection for simulcast streaming and that is the main reason for choosing CR but if Funi gets there then i do both but hey are more expensive

I can always watch dub version later if and when it is available.

As many people have commented, the Funi simulcast releases are censored just like CR. They only have uncensored episodes of shows that have been released for home video. (I don't know if those are available for non-elite subscribers or not...)

I am currently going with both. The new player at Funimation is much better than their old one was! The Roku app works really well, and they do have a large catalog of titles that I would like to see. They do take things down/add things on occasion. For instance, they just added the original Negima! series again, which was missing a few weeks ago. (I am going to watch it while I can. It is nearly impossible to find in stores too... I got into the manga due to UQ Holder and wanted to see the anime too...)

The dubs have a big advantage in terms of multi-tasking and convincing my daughter to watch with me. She has bad eyes and sometimes can't read the subtitles...

Crunchyroll's player is better, but the gap has narrowed. I have been having issues with my computer at home and it was not able to play the videos on the CR site for a while, but it didn't have any problem with Funi at that time. CR also looses titles from time to time, and they end up going away for real when that happens unless the home video license holder also has streaming rights and puts them up somewhere. Sweet Blue Flowers/Aoi Hana is a good example of that. CR had it for simulcast, but it was pulled a while back. Nozomient picked it up for DVD release, but they only have the first two episodes streaming on YouTube and no other streaming release. Ticks me off! I wish I would have seen it before CR lost it. I did catch Sasameki Koto before it went away, which is good since it doesn't even have a home video license holder to provide it anymore!

I would choose both, personally. If I had to choose, I would stick with CR, since they tend to have more new stuff. (Funi has quite a crop this year though...)

Funimation doesn't censor anime series? Where did I hear that from? I thought High School DxD New was censored on their channel.

as a matter of fact I'm watching that series now. Its not censored on their app (which is horrid) and their website. But their channel might be different

Thanks for clarifying that. I think on the website nothing is censored except for simulcast as previous people have mentioned. I personally don't watch anything in simulcast...too impatient waiting for new episodes to come out. I finished Blood C and am looking forward to watching the movie finally, I watch is subbed because the dub is terrible. I have to say not a single part of that anime was censored and I love me some gore

Nozomi normally does rotating releases of their series on their YouTube channel, so eventually they will get around to posting more episodes of Aoi Hana, but all episodes past the first two often have an expiration date and eventually go away.

It appears the following page lists all series that have more than sample episodes, so it would be worth keeping an eye on:
http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/nozomiEntertainment/streamingSchedule/?utm_campaign=streamingschedule&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=youtube

I note they now have Aria: The Origination listed. Time for me to start watching that and complete the third series.

Are you viewing High School DxD (the first series) or High School DxD New (the second series, which is the one schnipdip is referring to)? New hasn't been licensed for home video yet, so it would still be the broadcast censored simulcast version.

Meanwhile, even the subtitled version of the first series is uncensored (at least for Elite subscribers).

Due to the way Funimation normally lists series, you would be seeing the first series as episodes 1-12, and the second series as episodes 13-24.

Blood-C was a home video acquisition. Despite originally being a simulcast on NicoNico.com which Funimation had a partnership with, it was simulcast one season before that partnership began. As such, it was not available for streaming to Funimation until they licensed it for home video. The original simulcast on NicoNico.com was censored (mostly using shadow, although they used blur for the final episode), as one might expect
