Garden of words is the most visually beautiful anime movie ive seen, but the plot is surprisingly boring xD

Kimi no todoke is hands down the most beautifull plot wise. A little frustrating sometimes, but it's not a big deal in the long run.

Ano hana is also up there as a mix between plot wise and visually beautifull.

Came to say "Garden of Words" and saw that everyone already recommended it, so I'll try and think of something else.

Anything by KyoAni this side of K-on! is very pretty, and their animation style is consistently beautiful.

Time of Eve is very visually pleasing, and has amazing camerawork for an animated series.

Although it has a very gritty art style, I think Attack on Titan has gorgeous visuals.

Kids on the Slope has amazing colours, and actually uses gradient shading rather than cel shading throughout.

I'm fairly certain that there was another anime whose visuals I was in awe of most of the way though, but I really can't remember what it was.

5 Centimeters per Second. Crappy story, crappy characters and boring to watch...But the art was gorgeous! Simply breathtaking and beautiful.

And I have to mention, X (X/1999) the movie. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE adaptation, butchered the entire story - but the art is perfection. Even after all these years, the art is absolute eye candy and it is the only adaptation of the manga that gets the stunning artwork (by CLAMP of course) correct.

(Couldn't find such a great picture...But trust me, the art is artporn)

Henneko - It had some pretty nice visuals for a silly harem. While probably not the most beautiful in technical drawings alone, the atmosphere it created with the music and mood does bring it up. The character art was very polished and consistent by the way.

Another vote for Non Non Biyori, I just love to gush about that show. I've rewatched it 3 or 4 times now (it's been my go to relaxation show recently), and I am continually amazed by how freaking gorgeous the background art is. And it leaves you feeling serene, which I think is a good indicator of non-visual beauty.

Are we sure that's not Voices of a Distant Star? Makoto Shinkai's movies all blur together in my head, but if that's 5 Centimeters Per Second I need to find a new picture for Voices of a Distant Star for my profile photo album.

Just checking to see if I'm wrong.

Your mileage may vary, but Wolf's Rain. Great animation and soundtrack!
