This, and where is your story set? If you are set in different areas, the name will seem odd or not based on those areas. This can lead to some conflicts. unless the characters is a foreigner in those lands.

I agree. Sinclair, it could be iffy. Not sure. By Ryvan is unique, but memorable. Like said above, the story setting really would have a pretty good effect on the decency of a last name. There is something that I remember from a rather large named author. It is that names should be simple, and distinct. Perhaps it is how I am phonetically reading the first name. But I read it as "RI-van" the "SIN-klar", sin just seems to clash with RI because of the similar sound.

Instead of a tall vowel first syllable last name, I wonder about something with a long sound, A or E ish might flow better.
