The whole thing. Also, love does indeed exist. You can look at it as the chemical reactions that involve the release of natural opiates in the brain, causing mild euphoria and a deep sense of attachment. You can also look at it from a philosophical perspective. Michael Crichton of all people once wrote a rather excellent essay on one philosophical definition I am partial to. Subjectivity does not by necessity equate to a lack of merit or reality. The previous statement also applies to human awareness of reality. There is zero fully objective proof that our experience of reality does not equate to some external and/or independent absolute, just as there is zero fully objective proof that it does. For working purposes you generally have to assume that it does, for philosophical purposes you either choose it as the subject of your debate or assume on one side or the other for most other debates.

I apologize for waxing pedantic if that sort of thing doesn't interest you; but if it does, please accept a virtual high-five.

Not allowed to say love because it doesn't exist.

I wasn't planning on replying until I saw that line...

Love exists, saying it doesn't means you just haven't found your love yet. There are also many forms of love, I love my dogs, I love creating video/computer games, and I definitely love seeing people play those games.

Wow, many people are so depressing here...this world has a lot of good things and humans can be a good thing when love overpowers hate. Yep, I do believe in love and just because you have never felt it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it IS meaningful since it can change a person completely.

I agree with everything! great choices too. ^^ I would like to add animals such as dogs. They are a great joy to any family and can helps us to be happy.

I agree! Pets are so adorable and a great company to have because they are so honest and loyal.

Goodness, this thread sure is depressing! Just because the word 'love' is thrown around like a ragdoll doesn't mean it doesn't exist! I love my family and friends, the feeling of accomplishment when something finally clicks, and all my pets. I get the feeling you guys are only referring to romantic love, which is kiiiind of silly. I have to agree with kirika202, there's a ton of good in the world!

Sorry for ranting, I'm just like, wow, some of you guys are total cynics!

Did you mean "...Cancels out the worthiness OR worthlessness of the world?" I'm just trying to understand...

I think that's one right thing. Trying to understand. Not being judgmental.

That's my ninja way

Believe it!

Psh. Pure sophistry. Of course existentialism is a human-centric concept, but that in of itself doesn't mean anything since we're the ones trying to attach meaning to life and existence.

I think that's the healthy attitude to life though. Life itself doesn't have any higher meaning, so we should make the most of what we can out of it during our few short decades on earth.

Human curiosity, human creativity, human courage, and humanity's will to advance itself are all things that seem right to me, even though they may not all be put to good use.

Oh, and lolis, sweet, sweet lolis.

I won't say I'm not a believer in love, but I don't recall a point in time where I was emotionally attached to a family member, pet, friend, etc. and I've never had a romance so I haven't been in love. Maybe I'm unlucky? Or a sociopath? I'm not sure.

"The world" is not a customized sandwich. It's more like a fancy pizza, from one of those fancy restaurants that doesn't care if you don't like mushrooms. You're getting mushrooms.

You can't have the nice things without the bad things.

Some nice things that I like: animals, nature, most people, technology, artistic creations.

Just being alive is great. Everything is so wonderful. The technological achievements in the past decade is just magnificent to behold. 14nm fabrication process. Smart devices.

A distinct possibility of witnessing and living through the technological singularity. A good chance of curing all diseases, genetic enhancement, neural augmentation, human biological immortality etc.
