I realized I was no longer a kid when young women would no longer compliment how cute I was and give me candy, also when Old women would pull their purses close when I got near them as if I would rob them.

When you are growing up and your parents try to keep you from doing something stupid and you ask is "why" and they respond:

"You'll understand when you're older".

At some point you will realize that they were right.

I disagree.

One can easily have a career job, be a pillar of the community so to speak, have multiple degrees, and still choose not to be an adult. Both age and being an adult is a state of mind. It happens when a person getst so tied down in the day to day mundane things that they forget how to dream and imagine the future. When all they can do is try to bring others down instead of trying to create a better image of themselves. When they start just trying to keep up with the Jones instead of doing the fun things that they always wanted to do as a child.

Life is too short to be an adult anymore than you have to be.

Run in the rain at night without shoes, or get into a snowball fight with some grade schoolers. To me a person really becomes an adult when they let some sort of self image of what they think they are supposed to be become more important than simply having fun.

To put it simply, adults are boring and kids have fun. Why be boring when you can be having fun?

I still think I am rather kiddish. I think the moment when I really matured was when I stopped trying to be mature.

I am 18, but my transition was quick. I got a car, job, and going to college at once. Quite a loud awakening, but the cool part...I can go watch a movie that I am interesting in practically whenever I want. There are other perks of adult freedom, you just to find what makes it important for you.

P.S. Having a job means that it is so easy to pay 7 or 8 dollar premium membership for Crunchyroll, and it is sooooo worth it.
