I'm a huge fan of One Piece. At one point, it was my favorite anime of all time. However, I decided to take a break and let it get some distance between where I left off in the Manga and Anime, so I didn't have to wait every week to see in anime, something I had already read in the Manga.

During this time, I discovered that Hunter X Hunter was just so superior to One Piece (and every other anime that I've seen.) that now, I just can't get back in to One Piece the way I used to. It's a real struggle to get past this Fishman Island battle where I left off. With the extreme "Your life is on the line" approach to battle that HxH takes, it's hard to take the fights in OP seriously. And now, even Kyosougiga has overtaken One Piece as my second favorite anime. It's quickly sliding down the ranks.

So, let me ask, have you ever found yourself falling out of love with your favorite (or one of your favorite) animes? Which ones and what happened?

I think you grew out of long shounen. I suppose it is called growing up? Lol.

Anyways any repetition of anything can get boring. Anime as a whole gets boring if I do not balance with gaming.

But, that's the thing: Hunter x Hunter IS long shounen. And besides, I still have love for Naruto Shippudden. I'm too old to grow out of things at this point. I like Sergeant Frog, man.

Don't feel bad, I felt it was corny while I was writing it.

Shakugan no Shana for me, I hit the 3rd season and everything changed. I dropped it midway through episode 1 after marathoning the previous two seasons.

When Madoka Magica first came out I really, really adored it. I still think the show is great but after seeing um...I guess how irritating some of the fans are and seeing third movie the Rebellion I'm kind of...mad at the series I guess?
I thought the Rebellion was just one of the worst and most unnecessary movies I've seen in a long time and I wish I hadn't seen it it. I actually left the theater angry...so I'm disappointed with the franchise and I don't like the direction it is going in now...

Most Hayao Miyazaki movies don't seem as great to me anymore as they once did.

Some still do though. It's probably about a 50/50 split.

Only some anime I watched when I first got into anime(Love Hina, Initial D, etc) and even then I don't hate them. I just think that they're not as good(Initial D is still one of my favorites though), started noticing more of the cliches after gaining experience and rewatching them.

And I'm the opposite with One Piece. It took me having watched Naruto, Bleach, DB, HxH, and 500 other anime before One Piece became the one I see as the best and my favorite and it hasn't changed since.

Yet One Piece is the highest selling manga of all time and a majority of the readers are adults. With I believe like 12% being senior citizens.

It happened for me with Naruto. I loved part 1, but I just couldn't get the same feelings I used to have with part 2.

Hunter x Hunter for a while. HxH is my 4th favorite series, however, I was caught up to the manga when the Chimera Ant arc was still being published in WSJ. The pacing of the arc alongside all the hiatuses left me uninterested. I used to hate the arc at that time. However, when the volumes were released and I was able to read the arc in a timely manner, I started liking it. Now, I just don't judge HxH arcs while they're being published. I judge them as a whole after they're done, and of course I judge the volume version not the WSJ version.

On topic:
It happened with Bleach, Reborn! and many more.
They were too basic for me to hold interest in them.

I might have to agree with Bleach. For some reason, when i was younger i watched it...like alot.
Maybe because i wasn't paying attention to it in detail...

Well, the thing with manga, is like a bag of potato chips. Even if you are full, still want just one more. Am sure many one piece buyers still do because well.... they have the rest so keep reading it despite the story. Is like myself and naruto. Volumes are more feeling like a newspaper comic strip. Fortunately the story is still feeling like it is progressing, so dont mind the read. However....

The anime, I liked the first few seasons. Sure kiddish, but were fun. Then they lost momentum, and filler, never did get into watching it again. Maybe I will though. Right after the Chunin Exams and fighting Gaara is where I stopped.

But truth be told the Soul Society arc
is one of the best arcs in anime ever.
