This is an open discussion (for all who are interested in and are currently watching these titles) to see which Magic/Wizard based anime this season is/will be the best. The titles are all currently airing: Magical Warfare, Witch Craft Works, and Wizard Barristers. I'll gladly start of the discussion!

Obviously it's only been one episode for each of these shows, but you can definitely tell a lot from just one episode these days. Personally, I was more excited about Magical Warfare around when titles were getting announced for streaming. However, after hearing about Witch Craft Works and Wizard Barristers, I decided to watch them all and see how good each was compared to the other.

From the first episode, I can easily say that Magical Warfare did not meet my expectations. However, I hope it will prove more worthwhile as the series progresses. Both Witch Craft Works and Wizard Barristers were much better than expected and more enjoyable than Magical Warfare.

As of right now, I would rank them in this order:

1) Wizard Barristers
2) Witch Craft Works
3) Magical Warfare

What are your guys' thoughts?

I'm watching all three but Wizard Barristers is better than Witch Craft Works and Magical Warfare as of now.

Wizard Barristers has an interesting premise with likable characters.
Witch Craft Works pacing is still bizarre to me, but episode 2 was better than episode 1.
Magical Warfare seems like it could get better, but some characters annoy me already.

I'm only watching Wizard Barristers and Witch Craft Works. I'm avoiding Magical Warfare due to the bad word of mouth I've seen it get from....well everywhere.

So of the two, Wizard Barristers is currently better. Better animation, better character designs(though WCW has good ones as well), better action, better characters.

Note this is all based on just the first episodes.

still haven't gotten to watch Wizard Barristers yet.. but I enjoyed the first episode of Magical Warfare. Witch Craft Works I found to be boring and incredibly predictable.

1. Witchcraft Works
2. Wizard Barristers

3. Magical Warfare

If you ask me, the first two are a step up from the third, but none of them were bad. For me, Magical Warfare needs so more depth, but that will come with time if the show is worthwhile.

First episode comparative. Also, good choice to have for comparisions, should help people who prefer magica genres since all three have similarities, but striking differences. So, a stub review for all three. I currently am planning to follow all, actually find them to be the better shows of this season. So in order that I watched them.

1. Magical Warfare: Is a little tough to make an initial judgement on this show. The first episode was pretty much entirely world and character introduction. Setup seems to be a combat magic show with a focus on the more modern symbology style of magic. Some jabs at the usual boy meets girl akwardness situation and one real bad fanservice joke. Combat is fast and harsh without all the usual big buildups, etc. Style is modern and appears to lead into a post apocalypic style.

2. Wizard Barristers: I quite enjoyed the first episode. They used situation and life more than dialogue to really introduce the characters. It allowed for a much stronger introduction into the show. The magic used gives a very strong feel that it is natural and simply exists with the people using them presenting it as a natural part of their own life. Style is a pop modern world. Very detailed animation and realistic. There is fan service, but is done in a realistic way... if that makes sense...

3. Witch Craft Works: This is a very strange show with alot going on in the first episode. The main heroine is quite fanservicey, but at this time the show isn't really playing that up. Style wize, it goes mostly for the cartoony and fantasy witch style with big fancy hats, colors and dercorations, etc. Combination of gags and unusual action. While it hasn't developed to be such, it is really being layed out to be a harem show. Honestly, the first episode is one of those WTF is going on shows. not in a bad way, it is just Alice in Wonderland strange.

At this time, Wizard Barristers is my favorite of the three.

After watching Strike the Blood, I'm going to avoid magical warfare.

Wizard barristers has character animations with better depth than most and the main character is a rather fun lawyer.

I don't know what to think of Witch Craft Works yet, but I don't like how it's set in a school like about 100+ other anime. A school setting is a little more than generic at this point.

That's my ranking as well, though Magical Warfare is a distant 3rd to the other two.

I've seen the first episode of all three, and Witch Craft Works is the only one I've dropped.

Wizard Barristers and Magical Warfare both managed to explain something about the worlds they are set in, and that's enough to hold my interest to get to episode two. Witch Craft Works opted for flashy battle scenes over explanation and didn't even do much with character introduction. The character designs were also a big turnoff, and I'll be shocked if it doesn't turn into a harem show.

I have a little more hope long-term hope for Wizard Barristers than Magical Warfare, mainly because its world seems more interesting. However, I'm in the minority that enjoyed Magical Warfare's opening episode (minus the really bad, dumb "fanservice" joke near the end.)

I have a feeling that I'll still end up being satisfied by Magical Warfare. The characters, right now, are not good enough. I don't like any one particular character, but they should get fleshed soon enough. Once that happens, the show will probably get better. Though, Wizard Barristers set a pretty high bar for itself, I think it can be maintained. It's really interesting so far.

My order so far:

1) Wizard Barristers
2) Witch Craft Works
3) Magical Warfare

Magical Warfare is pretty mediocre. First episode felt rushed, generic, artwork was blend, and the action was just so-so. Only thing that kept me engaged was the OST. The other two series had more dynamics and didn't feel as rushed. Their concepts also appeals to me more.

Wizard Barristers - I kinda liked the first episode but I'm not quite sold yet. I might end up drifting away from it anyway.
Magical Warfare - Haven't seen it yet, probably won't get around to it honestly. I've enough to watch already this season.
Witch Craft Works - Couldn't even finish the first episode. The two main characters actively drove me off... and it sounded so promising too.
