Burnouts are complete accidents that screw you over in the end.
The smell from the burnt rubber kills brain cells.
You can be ticketed for burning out.
You waste tires.

20-30 seconds is too long haha, burnouts for tyres should only be about 5-8seconds lol and they do that to warm up for the stickiness but most of the times its only for show >.>

hm, I've always wondered if there's any connection between drag racing and rednecks.

Burnouts are accidents? How can this be? 10 times out of 10, they're intentional.

OMG.. So many of you guys dont even know what you are talking about. Doing burnouts are only benificial to drag radials and slicks. They are made of softer compounds that will actually become softer and stickier as they are warmed up. For street tires they are useless and do absolutely nothing as street tires are not designed to become softer or sticker. Many studies have showed this. You only need to do a very light burnout only 2-3 seconds. As soon as you see the first sign of smoke you will know your tires are good. Unless you go to the track you should even say anything about burnouts doing nothing. And less air in your tires equal more traction. But too little air will be detrimental.

EXACTLY. Burn-outs were only meant for drag slicks. In drag racing you usually see the dragsters stop in a spot right before the line, which is the water box. They do a burn out on there to help clean the tires of any tiny pebbles or w/e and to heat it up. Street tires with treads should avoid it because it will get trapped inside the treads.

What's the point of burnouts? Really... other then trying to get your "race" tires nice and sticky for a drag race on a drag strip...

I personally hate burnouts, but thats just me.

uhmmm how do you unintentionally do a burnout in place? lol cause if its a fwd you pull up the ebrake, and for rwd you need to hit front brakes gas...so its basically intentional all the time for a burnout.. oh and to do a burnout you need something called a LSD short for Limited Slip Differential

or you can weld the diff like i did

and burnouts arent JUST for show, they serve a purpose to make your tires more stickier, i do a small burnout while moving slowly XP
so does that make me a ricer cause i do a burnout?? hehehe
