I'd have to say no, mostly because there is no easy way to lose weight. There's no secret formula or diet or machine that will make it any easier. Maybe because green tea is low in calories but more satisfying than water, it contributes, but only because of that I'd imagine.

It definately helps curb your apetite because of the caffine, and it's a great antioxidant, but I don't know if just drinking tea will make you healthy. Of course you'll have to do other stuff, too.

I don't think it'd help with losing weight. If she really wants to lose weight that badly, tell her to exercise. I drink green tea for fun, it is delicious! ^^

~ Such an unhealthy thread. As typical said, its "healthy eating and daily exercise"

Green Tea only has benifits, but it is NOT the ultimate health.

There are four primary polyphenols in green tea and they are often collectively referred to as catechins.

Powerful antioxidants, catechins have been shown in recent studies to fight viruses, slow aging, and have a beneficial effect on health. Clinical tests have shown that catechins destroy free radicals and have far-reaching positive effects on the entire body.

Free radicals are highly reactive molecules and fragments of molecules that can damage the body at the cellular level leaving the body susceptible to cancer, heart disease, and many other degenerative diseases.

Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant found in green tea, is at least 100 more times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells and DNA from damage believed to be linked to cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses. This antioxidant has twice the benefits of resveratrol, found in red wine.

Some special benefits include the following:

Reduces high blood pressure. Drinking green tea represses angiotensin II which leads to high blood pressure.

Lowers blood sugar. Green tea polyphenols and polysaccharides are effective in lowering blood sugar.

Fights cancer. There have been many studies that have shown that green tea catechins are effective at preventing cancer.

Green tea also boosts the immune system because of its high concentrations of polyphenols and flavenoids.

Green tea antioxidants have been shown to lower cholesterol.

Green tea also has weight loss benefits.

Green tea is nice, but over drinking it; its bound to have side effects.

e.g: too much water, you can die from it...so same goes to green tea =) the most effective way to lose weight is just to exercise and eat healthy...

she wants to lose weight without exercising? She could change her diet. like no mayo, margerine instead of butter . when she eats leave a little bit on her plate. Only drink water. stuff like that

the best way is exercise though, it will maker her lose weight and tighten her up.

Green tea can help you. It really isn't beneficial to every lifestyle although it usually is.
-If you drink green tea that's caffeinated, you will have a bit more energy if you plan to use the energy to be active. When you get the slight drop from the caffeine crash, you should try to fight past it with normal routine. To be honest, a slight caffeine rush is better since exercise and rest is healthier than being in between the whole time.
-Green tea can help curb your appetite. It can curb your appetite but it's not that common. Many people still eat the same thing (and/or amount) after having green tea. I guess the space the drink takes up in your stomach can prevent you from eating as much...
-Green tea has antioxidants that helps your body's blood flow (a very little bit) and obviously helps your immune system. Since your body is more sensitive to getting sick when working out, antioxidants can help you.

But is green tea the key? Doubt it
Are there other things that can be more efficient than green tea? Yes
Basically, drinking green tea will probably not help you lose weight or whatever you want out of your body.
If you regularly exercise and maintain a lean, healthy diet; then adding green tea to your diet "can" be helpful. You can have it with a snack, a few minutes before a meal, or during the evening since people get cravings for junkfood later in the day.
In the end, I think green tea is merely one of many things that people say can help you. But there are so many things that have benefits so if you decide on anything; I'd say go with whatever food, drink, activity, or supplement works best with your lifestyle, behavior, and physical goal.

PS- One thing that is bad about tea is that caffeinated drinks (primarily coffee and tea) promote dehydration. So, make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated is one the best ways to promote a good health.

No, it's not the key, you still need to exercise and eat healthy, but it's good for you and tastes great. I just drank a cup of a it a few minutes ago. I hope it keeps me healthy.
