I wanted to ask for some help from the community since CR customer service isn't helping me out. Ever since I got CR I have been continually disappointed with the apps on PS3 and PS4. Here are the issues I've had with each app.

PS3: selecting another ep from a different series causes a crash. Browsing through titles causes a crash. Either the screen would go black making me do a hard reset, or it would just quit. Seems to happen every 3/4 eps but it's not consistent.

PS4: much improved. Was expecting a slightly better UI but no such luck. All the problems I listed above have not happened, except one thing. The majority of shows I watch freeze briefly when I start it up, or mid way through an episode, it varies. Not every show but it seems to happen with newer shows. I dropped the quality from 1080p to 720p and frankly I don't think that should push the hardware or app. But does this mean I have to go lower? If so that's really not fair because I do have a good set up.

I was wondering does anyone have any thoughts as to why this would happen on PS4? Netflix works fine and so does anything else I use. I can't believe they haven't improved it. Is it a server issue or too many people watching one show, I'm not a techie so maybe someone can help me out there? I just got a new router and I have a wi-fi booster so I have 100 percent signal. I can't hook it up via Ethernet unfortunately. I can watch it just fine on my computer and Ipad with no problems. Is it too much to ask to make these apps work, is it that expensive? If you have PS3/4, let me know what problems you've had.and any suggestions on what I can do to maybe fix these issues would be great.

Oh and working with CR support has not been helpful because all they tell me to do is change the DNS server which has done nothing. Either google or open DNS. Is there a better DNS server to use or do I have to adjust something on my end to stop this annoying freezing problem? And they don't seem to read anything I say in the message.

Personally I think its the app. There's no excuse for the freezing. I saw that CR is getting a new investor, maybe they can ask for help in the tech department, that'd be great. I'm doing my best to not fly off the handle here.

I'm there with you man. Was hoping the PS4 app would see a definite improvement over the PS3's buggy mess but not much luck. It runs a bit smother when scrolling through the menus and such but after watching more than say, 3 or 4 episodes in a row the app starts to get slow and eventually crashes forcing a hard reset. Rebuilding my PS4 database sped the app back up again so you might want to try that for a temporary fix....

It's sad because my PC is hooked into my PC but I use the PS3/4 apps mainly because they load faster and don't endlessly buffer like the PC Site does but now those apps too are starting to fail.... :/

It isn't a problem on your end. It's just a terrible app.

How do you choose the quality of vids on the app? All I ever get is SD or maybe 480p.

On the website under the "User Menu" where you "Log Out", go to "Settings". From there, find the "Account Settings" section, and choose "Video Preferences". You'll be able to set the default video quality from there.

It's based on the available bandwidth between your device and the CR servers, so if there's a bottleneck between those two points, you'll be limited to lower quality videos.1

Ya the app is buggy. I contacted crunchy roll support last month though for an entirely different issue regarding ps3/4 playback. The colors looked washed out compared to playing episode on a pc. I think something screwy is going on with the black level output. I have tested this by having both TV and ps3/4 on limited color range and looks washed out. I have set them both to full color range and the black levels are still off and somewhat washed out compared to playback on a PC. I have a HTPC hooked up to the same TV, set the video output to limited color range and TV is also on limited. Black levels look fine and it isn't washed out. Support told me that the ps3/4 takes the video and adjust the color range according to its setting. The explanation makes sense but that doesn't seem to be going on. Netflix and Amazon both look fine on the ps3/4. It's just the crunchy roll app that appears washed out, so that's why I contacted their support but no dice. I know it sounds like a spergy rant but its a pretty noticeable problem to me. Maybe some others have noticed this.
