Our major ISP are also mostly our Television providers, whose over priced, over complicated cable packages are getting their butts kicked by services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and all the other major bandwidth users. Giving them complete reign to restrict who is going to get the "premium" lines, how much that's going to cost and who is going to front the bill is not going to end well.

Many ISPs are trying to lay low on what they are going to do. They do not want consumers to know that they fully intend to start charging sites for premium bandwidth. Consider that anymore the world runs on the more money you can get the better. Why not charge people for net access AND charge sites for bandwidth? No matter how you look at that, that is an increase in revenue. Verizon lead that charge. The small ray of hope is the FCC is planning on rewording the Net Neutrality act. Let's hope they act fast before any real damage is done.

So, instead of making wars they've switched to monetising the internetz. Cool.

This seems bad for us. We might have to pay more to watch videos and surf the internet or not have access to it at all depending how your ISP reacts to this.

This crap is happening in New Zealand as well in the form of the GCSB bill. Basicly allowing the government to legally spy on us. *shivers*

seems like this is happening all over the first world. We have a massive wave of fascism to protect the capitalist class. People have blasted China for censorship yet the west is doing the same if not more soon.

I really hope they appeal and win.... Seems like some people got padded pockets to vote this down in favor of ISPs

What, pockets being padded from a government decision? Surely not! After all, aren't the gov folks the only ones who can legally print their own money, but still tax us until we can't afford food. . .we can trust them!

Wow.... This could really turn expensive now to stream.....if they feel like gauging people...

you mean when
*when* they start gauging everyone
as someone who watches streamed content nonstop/while gaming aswell in addition to other things, this is going to be horrible
I'm actually mainly just praying that hackers fuck shit up non stop if things get bad

I have zero confidence in the US Supreme Court's ability to apply common sense to an issue. There are three kinds of people who are against net neutrality.

1. People with no imagination whatsoever, who don't see how this will be bad.

2. People who will be able to exploit the internet in some way or are being paid by someone who will.

3. People who don't know what net neutrality is.
