Longest book I've tackled was Moby-Dick, which is about 600 pages, but nothing compared to what you guys have read. I was very surprised that the book kept my attention after 400 pages and no sign of the whale. It was definitely worth sticking to until the end. I think I would have been less impressed by the book if it had been shorter, and although some might disagree, the chapters about cetology were necessary and should not be cut out.

The Stand by Stephen King. It was 1141 pages. It is one of my favorites.

See, I would have put The Stand, as it's a little longer than my submission, but I never actually finished it. Some day maybe.

Longest book I've ever read was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and it was over 1,000 pages with a microscopic font. Okay, I exaggerated, but it was near that. All was well-worth it though.

Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind, second book in the Sword of Truth series and best book series ever made. They made a tv show too, ran for 2 seasons of 22 episodes each, called Legend of the Seeker.

By page length, War and Peace on a bet with my mother when I was 12. Now it's on my list of things to revisit because I think maybe I was a bit too young to really enjoy it. The one that felt the longest was that fifth Song of Ice and Fire one. That was a super exhausting experience I have no desire to repeat. How did he manage to make a violent fantasy novel so freakin' boring!? It can only be genius.

Game of thrones. Definitly worth it.

I'm currently reading Clash of kings and it's even longer.

Storm of swords even longer through :).

I have not read the entire bible (but I have listened to particular books within the bible time and time again till the point I cannot recall how many times I have listened to Romans, or the gospels and etc) but I would have to say it was absolutely worth it. (Plus my bible is longer than roman catholic or protestant bibles).

Another long book or rather series I've read would be Jaroslav's Pelikan's History of church doctrines books which are essential for anyone who wants to understand anything concerning modern day Christianity and the different streams and theological thoughts within.

In terms of fiction I think the longest I read was the book thief and I considered it so boring after I finished it. Wasn't worth it.

Probably my complete copy of Lord of the Rings (it counts, it was meant to be one novel! ). I've almost certainly read more, but LoTR is the main 'long' one that comes to mind... Definitely worth it. Tolkien's prose can be quite dense and taxing towards the end, but given that's the stuff set in Mordor it almost feels appropriate.

Apparently I need to read more, because there's a lot of good, long books on here.
