Well, I have been watching both of these religiously and even if I didn't want to. I keep ending up comparing Major (Goro Honda-kun) to Ookiku Furikabutte (Mihashi and gang). And from many people commenting they have also done it themselves. . .saying which is better and etc. . .So here is an official topic to start it up.

Both characters are so different like Day and night but they have one thing in common and that is baseball. Now I want to find out what your opnions on both of these anime series.

Please, If you have not watch both these series please do not voice your bias thoughts unless you want to start a flame war.

Please post your opinions with what you consider your truth or your facts about the said series that you prefer. Don't leave insensitive and rude post though, be respectful to those on here.

I'll post more rules when I get home, but please start this thread anyone.

I'll post pictures of the said series later. . .

Here's Mihashi and team

Here's Goro and team (I have to find a better pic. . .

Well, in my opinion, Goro has more impact as a pitcher. Also there is the fact that just by being in the field he can somehow change his team mates determination and stuff. However, the problem of Major is that Goro is somehow, too unrealistic. He just feels too much like a typical shounen anime main character.

Ookiku Furikabutte, on the other hand, leaves a more realistic view of what high school level baseball really is.

Both series are good, but depending on what you are looking for, your opinion may differ from others. Major is more a of "drama" about Honda Goro and Ookiku Furikabutte is more about Mihashi's high school experience seen through baseball.

Oh, and also, you can't really compare Mihashi and Goro anymore because Mihashi is still high school level and Goro is fighting to get into the major league. Also their pitching style is very different.

That is what I think xD

I can't choose either because both leave an impact on you regardless of what u prefer in an anime. major is more inspiration and the can do spirit that can really pump u up after watching while ookiku gives u a more realistic view that u can relate to. Either way, I HIGHLY RECOMEND BOTH AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually azvar major is somewhat realistic. high schoolers can throw fastballs in the 90's(mph) which is around the 150's(kph) that they say goro pitches at now. heres a link of some high schoolers being drafted/or going to be drafted to play for the royals : http://mariners.scout.com/a.z?s=318&p=2&c=649836 and i like major better than the other. mihashi is too annoying to me but thats my view=p ohh and azvar you can compare the 2 as irl high schoolers have been drafted to play in the mlb so goro is like a really talented hser and is very possible. link 2 for daisuke matsuzaka and hideki irabu : http://web-japan.org/trends00/honbun/tj990301.html

ohh...and heres a link a bout his gyroball http://www.robneyer.com/book_04_gyroball.html and

Hmm. . .Here's my opinion:
Goro-kun started out with that heart warming and persistent personality, the familiar feeling of closeness with him. . .But as he hit middle school his personality stayed the same. .. I didn't see any other further improvement to his personality. His charcter growth just matured a bit but his baseball styled stayed the same since middle school. . .All of his pitches were fastballs. I applaude him for sticking with just that because of his belief but it got old for me. His interactions with his team mates didn't have the same feeling as when he was a kid where everyone counted. . .They were mostly stock characters to make up an incognito team. I didn't have any feelings for any of his team members or any curiosity for them.

Goro-kun is just too good which totally outshine everyone where all you feel is his determination. . .nothing else. . .

On the otherhand, Mihashi, brings out tons of feelings. .. one minute I am laughing my head off and the next I am anticipating what everyone is gonna do. .. I stress "everyone"

I don't know what I am trying to point out but think back to Goro's High school experience and compare it to Mihashi's. . .which one do you end up becoming more emotionally involve with? To me Ookiku Furiabutte delivers both in realistic baseball and personal attachments. . .

Me as an example. . .I will watch mihashi over and over because of his personality while I enjoy Goro's story it doesn't really leave me feeling close to him. I guess Major is not as heart warming as Ookiku furikabutte to me.
