The queue seems to come up a lot here, so I collected a few threads below to try to support my own somewhat (hopefully) encompassing suggestion, that is, to be able to create a variable number of queue tabs, depending on what an individual user needs, ones where you might even supply your own titles.

I realize this is a lot to ask, especially in light of the number of devices the queue supports (multiple Roku row/stripes, please?), so I think this likely won't go anywhere, but this is the suggestion forum, and you never know unless you ask, right? If you feel as though I'm overstepping something here, let me know. This isn't a complaint, I am really happy with the service. I just have this compulsion to try to organize things...

I think having multiple queues could address a lot of the other threads, plus my own wish to be able to maintain a separate queue for categories such as these. Not everyone would want specifically these, they might want more, or less, or they might even have different ones of their own, or want to title them differently even if the concept is similar:

simulcasts (I have 30+ of just these lately)
catalog titles (actively watching)
plan to watch someday (bookmarked for future)
favorites (Mostly for record-keeping, or a queue to share publically)
rewatch queue (different than favorites or catalogs, actively rewatching)
history (just like any other of the queues, you manage it yourself, sort of like the old watchlist, so the current history function wouldn't need to be altered, it just becomes another queue)
And maybe even "guilty pleasures", not that I personally have any of those...

And optionally make any one, or all of them completely private, or visible publically if you want to share:
make your queue publicly available so that people can see an up to date list on the animes that you are currently watching and where you're up to

This staffer response gives me some hope some of these could possibly get taken into consideration:
We're looking into adding some of the old Watchlist functionality to the Queue. The Queue was meant to replace the Watchlist, which has been slowly phased out over the last two years. We realize that sharing to the community/public is only possible through the old lists

And here are a couple other related threads:

have a tab for completed shows and for ongoing shows and so on. Would be a nice feature to have eventually because I don't like having to delete shows

make our own favorite show queue tabs (...) would like to have a selected few on a Favorite Tab or Custom Queue

Provide a denser list view (...) that loads the entire history

I'm using this slightly out of context because it mentions catalog titles as a separate categorization. (I think what this person really wanted was a new page similar to the various "simulcast seasons", but for catalog title additions).
an easy way to view a list of shows that were not added as they were airing

And these would take a little extra work to provide a button or something to sort any given queue (random/alphabetical/by air date) quickly if desired.

sort your queue by most recently watched (series)
/forumtopic-845737/sorting-queue

a random engine, and selects what plays after a show based on episodes that haven't been watched

Possibly that last one is asking for being able to create a playlist queue of individual shows. Not sure how that would fit in, but it felt related, so I included it, too.

Yeah, that was probably a lot to take in.

TL;DR: suggestion for multiple user-definable queues

Multiple queues would be nice. I would set up some ones very similar to yours. And if you can also see a default queue per platform, I can imagine the following queue types, too:

- To Watch At Home - Pretty much every title
- To Watch In Public - Stuff to watch on your lunchbreak in the staffroom, maybe excluding some of the more mature titles
- What The Kids Can See - Filtered as above

You don't always want the same views on all devices, after all.

And, although this would likely be more complicated, the ability to have the "watched" status be per-queue. Useful for families who like the same shows, but who don't watch at the same time.

Good ideas, but instead of multiple queues maybe add a filter. place some check boxes at the top and hide all series not matching the filter. I hoping for something smaller to begin with:

a) hide or highlight series in my queue that is/is not ongoing. Or
b) add a marker after all series that is ongoing. Personally I don't like to start watching ongoing series, I don't like to wait for the next episode and want to finish series in my own speed. Then the last episode is available will the marker be removed.

If you use Chrome and view web-only, then this beta extension may have some of that functionality for you, depending on whether the CR home site location (.com, .co.uk, etc) you use has been included to work with it.

I second this idea, being able to organize the Queue with global filters for genre and the like and with user-defined ones would make navigating it much simpler.

An archive or active/completed list would be great, but in the meantime I would be happy with some way of being notified when new episodes (eg, Season 2 of an anime) are available. Sometimes the title changes slightly and even though it is season 2 of something, it will be listed separately, not sure how they could handle that but it would really help. I have several series for which I am eagerly awaiting new seasons.

The best ways of keeping apprised of what is newly available is simply by perusing the Site News section of the forum on occasion, or at least daily beginning near the end of March, June, September, and December when new simulcasts are made. Any new series announced will be among the first few topics after the stickied ones.

You could also check out the current season topic (e.g., Spring 2014 anime) as the first message will be updated with the announced simulcasts.

Multiple user defined queues would be great. Also an option to make some public would be cool too.

I've suggest a few times having your queue work exactly the same as the Shows page. Simulcasts and genre filters in particular. Filtering out finished/off-season anime would be great, too. Also adding a button on the show bracket to move it down to the bottom of the queue since it only has one for moving up. It's mostly a hassle to work with the queue as it is since you're limited on options, especially having 30 or more shows . I've organized mine a bit, but it never really feels that way.

ALSO, let me add, how about a having options for list and grid views? I've taken quite a liking to grid view on my tablet, and that would make organizing the queue or tab easier for some.

I've been a subscriber for almost a year now and I'm still quite disappointed by the lack of available search filters and queue organization features. I've got about 20+ simulcasts and other queued content to watch when I get around too it, but the only organization that seems to be available is for me to remove completed content from my queue and move other content towards the top. Basic sorting and organization features would be nice such as 1. alphabetic (a-z, z-a), 2. season, 3. episode status - my idea with this is that un-watched/uncompleted episodes automatically rotate towards the top of your queue and as you complete an episode, it falls to the bottom of the queue for the next show/next episode.

Additionally the ability to mark episodes/seasons/shows as watched/completed, etc.

I do like the idea of having multiple tabs as well to keep a history (not of individual episodes), but a catalog of show titles you've watched/completed with maybe a percentage rating of how far you made it in case you decide to drop a show and come back too it later.

I like all the suggestion above but does any CR administrator read these suggestions?

I have a suggestion for the Anime Convert Achievement Award(the award that tells you that you have just completed the full series of a anime) Instead of having an ice cream cone that has nothing to do with the anime, it would be nice to have a picture of one of the characters displayed on the award, and If it is a licensing issue to display a character on the award then why not have the name of the show on the award. When I go back and look at all of the awards I can't remember which shows I watched. It would be nice to know what shows I have completed. The ice cream cone doesn't give me a hint

Thanks for listening :

I hope that someone at CR has reads this page. This is one of the only things about Crunchy Roll that frustrates me to no end. You don't have to make the mobile app have it, but at least have the website from PC have this. I would like to really be able to watch certain anime at certain times. I would love to have the filters mentioned above, but I would also wouldn't mind extra folders be able to sort them out myself as to what genre it is. Some of what Crunchy Roll has put them under is not quite accurate. Please consider this as a whole hearted plea!!!

Simple solution:
Many examples exist but let's chose iTunes' playlists. They have static playlists and smart playlists.

Let us create our own playlists and be able to access them all under the Playlist/Queue tab.

i.e:
Watch later - Static
Simulcast - Shows I have queued but are currently in simulcast mode
Faveourites - Static

Queue on it's own doesn't suit me, a the very least I need shows I've watched and liked but will watch another time. Shows I've yet to finish. Shows 'in progress' that I need to wait for.
