So I've been planning on making this thread for a while, but I'm just getting to it now

Anyways, as probably most of you know that in Weekly Shonen Jump, authors write a comment every week about whatever is on their mind. I thought I'd make this thread and update it with our beloved Oda's comments.

First things first, here is a link that will take you to the old comments that Oda wrote from his first work before he started One Piece!!
All credit goes to the biggest One Piece fan I know of, Greg Werner, and everyone who helped him in this awesome project. Really if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have every single comment Oda wrote since he published his first work.

Eiichiro Oda's Weekly Comments

The list includes the comments until August 26th, 2013. Thus, I will be adding the comments that follow them, on here myself.

I hope you guys can enjoy Oda's thoughts and comments about a variety of things, as much as I did

2013:

2014:

2015:

2016:

Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #1. December 5th, 2016: "I had dinner with Kishimoto-san and Shimabuu. These are my brothers in battle, and seeing them always reassures me. Twentieth anniversary, let's go!"

Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #2-3. December 12th, 2016: "I had dinner for the first time in a while with Tokuhiro Sensei and Arkperformance Senpai. It brings back memories of twenty years ago."

Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #4-5. December 26th, 2016: "Thanks to the radio, I'm hooked on Spicy Peanuts and Pingo candies. What delicious food!"

Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #6. January 7th, 2017: "A New Year's video message from me has been uploaded on one-piece.com. Happy New Year!"

Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #7. January 16th, 2017: "I'm the guy who buys the leftover holiday food like the Christmas roasted chicken and the New Year's Day osechi."

I would so watch a reality show of Oda-sensei's life. Even though he devotes so much time and energy to One Piece he still knows how to go out and have fun!

I've read a little about some of the backlash over the sexism present in the events that take place and the characters' perspectives. Do you think it's necessary for Oda to distinguish what are his ideas and feelings from what are solely his characters? Has Oda ever directly addressed any of the criticism leveled at his characters and their behavior or principals, however misguided or misunderstood they might be? If he hasn't, do you feel he owes it to the fans to set the record straight on any of the characters or themes in the manga?

Yeah that was chapter 755. I felt the same way. Even though he was making a joke, there's a line to how far you can go. I believe Oda crossed the line with this one to the point where it wasn't funny and it ruined the chapter for me.

Since this occurred during a fight between two characters I'll use a spoiler tag:

I'm not sure how fans in Japan reacted to this. If there was a lot of criticism from Japanese fans, maybe Oda will make a response.

I don't think it matters if this is not what Oda's beliefs and ideas are. Oda doesn't treat Sexism like other issues. He portrays Racism, Slavery, Child Abuse in a serious manner and as problems we need to solve. However, when it comes to Sexism, it usually happens during a gag, which adds to the problem. I'm just disappointed that lately we've been seeing these kind of things more often. I think this one is the worst one yet.

To your knowledge, has Oda ever elaborated on what kind of music he listens to and enjoys?

I recall that he mentioned he likes Soul, Rock, Enka, and Classical music.
