I don't like it, but as long as their not hurting the dolphin population its ok. As far as I know they follow restrictions on how many they can kill per year.

We should show some concern for all of those Anchovies dolphins eat.

EXACTLY! Those poor Anchovies are just trying to have a good time and do their thing. Those dolphins are MONSTERS! What is this world coming to?

In all seriousness, I get that some people like dolphin. I don't think it warrants an entire slaughter, though. Maybe kill, like, a few and in a humane way.

humans in general are just cruel creatures
but what i wonder is why do they do it because there must be a reason for it since i can't imagine thats its just someone's hobby
so capturing and selling is still cruel but it makes sense but whats the profit in killing and torturing them

still i hope those people get a dose of karma you know a car accident or something else thats make the people suffer just as much as those dolphins

Reminds me of all those faked Greenpeace videos used to wreck the U.S. Tuna industry. I like dolphins and this capture sounds poorly done ...but it is by no means a travesty.

I made this flowchart, just in case the art of adaption is very confusing to some people.

I am going to do two views on this!

First fishing is very important to Japan and their diets! However is the best way to do it?

Second I have seen Aquariums in a few animes just the past week ! So what does the anime community think! BTW Super Sonico wanted to see a Bottle Nosed Dolphin in the most recent episode ! So I guess there is different views in Japan!

Just an interesting articles that shows how intelligent Dolphins really are. They do call each other individiual names and someday we might be able to communicate with them. Doesn't the fact that they could develop a language make them like people?

Are you suggesting that eating dolphins is akin to cannibalism? All animals are intelligent beings. People tend to define the "right intelligence" as how close they are to that of humans.

I understand hunting animals for food and whatnot, but only when necessary, and you should kill the creature in a humane way.
But what does necessary mean? Demand? minimum sufficiency? If so why have varieties like pig, cow, lamb, duck and chicken? All the cows that are being eaten, is it really.............necessary?

I dislike and am against it, but compared to the fast food industry's way of killing things, it doesn't seem so bad.

While I love Japan and, generally, the Japanese people, no country is perfect. Japan certainly has some of its own problems. This is one of them. The Japanese people shouldn't be in support of dolphins and whales being killed. Especially any of those that are endangered species (I don't know if that includes Dolphins, or is just the whales).

I see no reason why people can't eat them. You can eat shark meat and whale meat.

From what I understand it's completely legal. As long as the dolphin population isn't being largely affected and the ecosystem isn't screwed to more shit then it is then it's fine. I can't have any moral standing on animals being eaten since I eat cows, pigs, lamb, salmon, cod etc. Some thirty million beef cattle are slaughtered each year in the US alone, each only living about 24 months. Doesn't that sound a bit more sad than a few dolphins being slaughtered?

That's just it though. Necessary means enough to suffice the population. No less, no more. Different animals are fine for variety, but then again: slaughter only in accordance with what is truly needed. And do it humanely.

Reminds me of the buffalo problem in America for example. When it was just the Native Americans, they only killed when they needed food. When the Europeans came, they slaughtered more for fun and sport, and almost took the entire buffalo population out of existence.

Everything must be done in moderation.
