I love ranch. I remember standing in line at the salad bar in basic training and they made me sit down just before I could put dressing on my salad... I walked away and just kinda dropped my tray on the floor on purpose. All the bs and the ranch was the final straw that broke the camels back. Twas not a good day.

Depends on the salad. If it's a hearty salad with things such as cheese and boiled eggs, then blue cheese is fantastic. If it's got fruit in it tho, then you gotta go with a sweet vinegarette.

Blue Cheese, then Ranch, Also like Ceasar Salads. Great, now I could go for a salad! Thousand Island is great on Rubins.

I don't really eat salad, except for potato salad and coleslaw if it's in the fridge. So I'd have to say mayonnaise, since that's in both salads.

Lots of good salad dressings out there.

I can make a real good one by combining olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, coarse salt, coarse black pepper (from a grinder), and dashes of Italian dried herbs (blend of dried herbs). Put it on iceberg lettuce torn from a head of iceberg lettuce, with fresh chopped cucumber and fresh chopped tomato, as well as some canned black olives. It is very good.

Well, I honestly usually just eat plain salad alongside with whatever main course I'm eating, but in terms of an actual salad by itself, I'd have to say salsa if that counts or balsamic vinegar. Plenty of flavor in both and none of the oil/high fat natures that nearly all dressings contain. What's more important to me than a dressing in a salad is the various fixings put in the salad to zest up the flavor whether it be herbs, vegetables, fruits, grains, or beans etc.
