So just wanted to put it out there , clearing Java temp files fixed the issue in chrome , seems it was chrome having a broken corrupt file causing it . If you go into Java in the control panel you can clear the temp files in the settings which fixed this instantly for me

That would rather difficult for anyone that doesn't have Java installed on their system. (I don't, and CR works fine for me).

As I've noted before, Java and Javascript aren't the same thing. Few sites use the former any more, almost every site uses the latter.

found on chrome it can be caused by clearing history. solutions to go into chrome privacy settings and temp allow all sites to use flash, then set it back. seems to forget this setting otherwise

Couldn't be bothered seeing if anyone has posted this solution before, but just setting flash and javascript to 'always play on this site' and then reloading worked for me.

In Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced > Content Settings > Flash
Allow flash, but disable "Ask first".

Then it runs normally.

It's more of a "Crunchyroll doesn't keep up with the security options of all browsers" issue.
Since they're phasing out Flash, the proper solution would be to make do an HTML5 player, because Flash is obsolete and in 2 years, 4 months. Flash will be discontinued altogether.
