I'm feeling slightly bored, and couldn't find a topic that discussed just this, so let's find out shall we?

How often do you pre-order something?

No matter what it is: Games, Figures, Movies, Books, new technology, clothes, accessories, ANYTHING.

I personally don't usually pre-order, either I don't have the money, or the specials added in with the pre-order don't really entice me to think of spending the money now rather than later when it is released.

BONUS QUESTIONS

1: Do you only pre-order when the pre-order has a special deal?

Examples:
A game comes with certain in-game perks, like experience boosters or armor in RPG's.
A figure also comes with a manga, or poster.
Clothes come as part of a bundle.

2: If you are the type to pre-order, do you pre-order nearly anything that comes available that you want? Or do you just pre-order certain things?

Example:
My friend will pre-order every game for every console he has that is released, whether it is a genre/game he would like or hate.

i pre-order figures often, due to being unable to find them later if i don't, and video games just because why not

I preorder figures and anime merch always, it's a little more rare than some other things. And I never actually track release dates, so if I don't remember to preorder and then forget it's released I'll lose the opportunity (which I've done on occasion like a dummy).

I'll typically only preorder a game if it has decent bonus content. Got Lightning Returns preordered for the bonus costume and the FFX Remaster just because it has the art book, which I'll open once and then forget about. But if there's no bonus content I'll usually just get it the release day.

Outside of those I don't think there's anything else that commonly comes with bonus stuff for preordering, so I think that's it.

i almost never do, i'm always broke. T_T only anime thing i ever pre-ordered was a Gintama fanart book that was only going to be printed once. it also didn't cost an arm and a leg like these figurines do.

oh and i also pre-ordered Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto album so i could have it in my hands the day it was released lol

I don't often preorder merchandise. Right now I'm set to move in a few months anyway, so pre-ordering some things I'd like to (a couple Nendoroids) just doesn't seem wise. Personally I don't see the point in pre-ordering a lot of merchandise, since more often than not it's still available later - and if you've waited months to get it, another week or two isn't going to kill you. You're also spending money now on something you'll get later, when for all you know, you could need that money for an emergency before the merchandise in question comes out.

BONUS

1. A special deal isn't strictly necessary for me to preorder a piece of merchandise, but I won't say it doesn't influence my decision. A free extra gun in something like Dead Space is always nice (though not really necessary), but if I really want the merchandise in question, it doesn't need a preorder bonus for me to pick it up.

Still mad they didn't give me the preorder bonus disc with Jirachi for Pokémon Colosseum though...

Used to pre-order figurines but not anymore since it gets pricey.

Currently have 3 PSVita games,1 PC game and 2 books (SAO) Don't often preorder books or manga or blue rays but if it's something i like i will.

I'll pre order things sometimes, in almost all cases I don't preorder games cause that "special bonus content" is still available to people who walk into game stop and buy a copy the same day it came out or the next day.

I pre ordered an attack on titan hoodie from crunchyroll for 30 bucks and i'll probably be pre-ordering the first season of nyarko-san another crawling chaos soon

If there's an advantage to pre-ordering (a bonus item, a significant discount, or legitimate concern that the item won't be available later), I'll do it for something that I really want. Otherwise, I'll pick it up later, when I can.

Pretty much the only things I've pre-ordered lately have been anime figures.

I like pre-ordering games and figures but they're expensive and I'm poor so I can't do it very often...

I mostly pre-order stuff I won't be able to get anymore (or at least not for the same price) after the release and for some reason I always pre-order music.

I pre-order figures because they can be hard to get after their release date. I have, on occasion, pre-ordered games, mostly so I can spread out payments on it over a couple months.

Of course, I don't order everything I want, because that would be a lot of money that I don't have. Pre-order specials are nice, and may influence my decision on whether to order an item, depending on what it is.

I occasionally pre-order stuff if I can pay for it at the time that I order it. I almost never pre-order items online because the charge is debited to my account when the item ships three months later. And that additional charge usually pops up when I really don't have the money to spare.
