Post Reply Capchas on GB?

Just today I downgraded my account from all access to normal and all of a sudden I notice that for using the GB and buddies GB's I have to enter a code every time I enter a message to someone? I remember downgrading my account before and it never did that so this must be something relatively new.

I don't recall there ever being a problem with bots taking over GB's. My only guess is that open use of your GB is now a premium members only service.

Why did CR decide to add capcha codes?. A lot of us use GB's to talk to friends, we're not talking anime buddies who we share a word or two with from time to time but actual friends that we've made on CR whom we talk to daily. Having to enter a code for every single post is not just an annoyance. It's like having to sign in and out between every sentence shared on Skype. A friend of mine once said that the GB feature was one of the reasons she signed up to CR as it allows us to communicate with those with similar interests. Not being able to do so openly is only pushing me to look for options outside of CR to keep in touch.

Just to be honest, this does not entice me or serve as incentive to get me to sign back up for premium membership, which is assume to be the reason CR did this as you don't need to use codes for club GB's.

I'd also like to add that this presents an accessibility issue to those who are hard of vision and or reading. Some of the codes are difficult if not impossible to discern and sometimes you have to cycle through them a few times just to leave a post. I didn't see accessibility options that other sites have to make using captcha codes easier.

You ever notice the spambots that've been all over the site recently?

That's why.

Spambot creators aren't stupid enough to give an account that's just inevitably going to be banned a premium membership. It'd be a big waste of money. So, anyone who doesn't have a premium account has to use capchas.

...Although I would think that they could make it so that if you have a certain amount of CR Points, like 1000+, you shouldn't have to worry about needing to do that...

If I had I wouldn't have posted this.

also... To post on a GB you have to be someones buddy or the member of a group. If you don't want your GB to be subject to spam then don't buddy the person unless those who create spambots have found a way around this. PM's can be sent to anyone and are generally sent less than GB messages and are also longer so I can see adding codes there but not for GB.

This was the result of video comments previously using the same system as user/group guestbook comments. People would spam video comments so a captcha was put in place. You didn't notice it before because premium members bypass the captcha.

Another reason for the captcha is so that people don't say spam for cr points though I think another system may be in place for that so the captcha is most likely no longer necessary for user/group guestbooks. We'll look into it.

All I would not have seen was the captcha prompt, the comments should have still been there so I guess I just missed them somehow. I don't mean to be accusatory, my original post was just an assumption based on the fact that some of this makes little sense. CR points mean pretty much nothing so why spam to get them? Also, why put all commenting under the same system making it difficult to address individual issues? Finally, if they are under the same system then why are only GB posts affected and not Group GB posts? I guess I just don't understand why CR has things set up the way they do and it's that misunderstanding that leads me to look elsewhere.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.
