I kind of suspect the Big Three were a sociocultural anomaly the likes of which we're like to never see again.

Hard to predict, honestly don't see One Piece being removed from the top spot for a LONG time. Even with the Attack On Titan surge, where people were buying all available volumes it was still short. If I had to predict, Magi will be up there. As for the other spot, Hunter x Hunter has the potential, but that hiatus. Togashi playing to much Dragon Quest lol!

The only new king I see is a queen and her name is Chikane and Himeko.

After their second coming, we will see yuri dominate this world!!

CHIMEKO IS GREAT!

One Piece will probably go down in history as the longest running anime it will probably span 25 years + but I'm happy with that I love the characters I love everything about it I think Attack on Titan has the potential to become one of the kings if they continue you with it regularly and my second choice would probably be sword art online as it's popularity just keeps on rising.

As a recent anime that is still ongoing that could possibly be a great , Nagi is simply amazing, i could see it being top 50 anime of all time. Perfect SOL and a great VA cast. I hope it ends as great as it began.

Sazae-san has been around for 45 years & over 6000 episodes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sazae-san
Doraemon has been around for 40 years http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doraemon
Detective Conan has 100 episodes more than One Piece http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detective_conan

^Anime milestones are absurdly disproportionate.

I don't get why people keep mentioning Attack on Titan. You might as well assume that /Hozuki-no-Reitetsu or Ghost in the Shell would become an open-ended show with an absurd number of episodes. It won't happen. It hasn't happened. Production I.G. has never done such a thing before. And it wouldn't fit with production costs.

Get over it and move on until the next season might come out.

Sadly, I don't think we'll see another phenomenon like ''The Big 3'' in anime for a very long time.

I pretty much agree with everything here. Here in the states we rarely realize that the "Big 3" are really not the "Big 3" We can more easily classify it as The Big 3 (or Kings) of Shounen. They are all from Shounen magazine and for the Shounen demographic.

But there are plenty of huge long runners that beat the Big 3. Pokemon for instance has something like 800+ episodes with all of its seasons and I think nearly 20 movies. The 3 that were listed Sazae-san, Doraemon, Detective Conan. Shin-Chan I believe is still running as well and is up in the 800 count.

Just by episode count Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are small compared to some shows out there. But because they are "popular" (sorry I hate them all) they get fancy titles such as "The Big 3 of Anime" which is just ridiculous I think.

Sadly, I doubt anything in the near future will dethrone the 3. Bleach perhaps because it isn't running anymore, Naruto I heard might end soon so that as well. But only cause they have ended or will be ended soon, not because something new comes along and is instantly better. I also doubt it will be a small fry like AoT to do so.

Personally though I don't think there needs to be a crappy title given to anime such as "King of Anime" or "The Big 3" etc. Too many people think that because of these titles everyone should instantly love them and all of their flaws or they are not true fans of Anime, of course its these same people who usually don't watch anything other than some action packed Anime and won't try any other Anime out.
