where's the Gintama love

lol if "big 3" is a western term, then I can understand... Gintama is very popular in Japan, not so much outside of it. I have no doubts that the anime will start up again -- the second movie was a huge hit, and the manga isn't showing any signs of slowing down.

if Togashi-sensei ever got off his bum and started being a mangaka again, Hunter x Hunter could have potential to be even more popular than it already is. Although... the last arc in the manga resolved some things, so idk.

I don't see Fairy Tail becoming a part of the "3". It has lost a lot of popularity it had in the beginning. Plus it's pretty much just ecchi with some fighting now.

Attack on Titan's mangaka already has the ending planned (though he did say he was gonna leave some characters alive due to fans of anime T_T), so the anime wouldn't be long-running. If anything it'll just have spin-offs and stuff. I think AoT will go more FMA's direction; popular, well liked even by newer anime fans, and appreciated for its contribution to the genre.

That wouldn't be so bad for Attack on Titan. Long as Funimation does good with the dub that is.

In Japan there's no "The Big 3", there's only one that has the throne alone there. And that's One Piece.
It's so much more popular, sold much more and all that good stuff than the other animes.

An interesting thought i just had. We might even end up with different kings of anime across the world. I.E the big 3 might be the no.1 of asia, the no.1 of usa & the no.1 of europe if they are all different to one another. That would make it unique.

I do.

And the whole point of them is appealing to the same demographic, so don't think the people watching Naruto every week are the same ones who watched Saint Seiya and DBZ back in the day. Some people move on but those shows will keep on coming out because there will always be teens who like them.

Honestly I am not a fan of DBZ anymore. I used to like it when I was a child because it was new and exciting, but it really doesn't fit my taste all that much anymore. Actually, even when I was around 10 years old I preferred watching Sailor Moon over DBZ once that started airing. I enjoy Naruto when it's clever, but when it sinks back into it's same old stuff mode I get really bored of it. Bleach is a series I stopped watching after 2 arcs because it started to get extremely repetitive with its fighting. I'd say my favorite shonen series these days would be Hunter x Hunter and Fairy Tail. Both of those are a bit more mature than other shonen series. Hunter x Hunter for its plot, and Fairy Tail for its "plot".

One Piece isn't bad but One Piece tends to have a lot of running gags and relies on them often, I sometimes can't stand that.

I thought Gundam and Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell were kings of anime...
