Howdy guys!

Sparkles* from Area 11 here, if you've not heard of us we're a UK-based rock band who take our influences from a range of different places, including Japanese culture. We have recently started a weekly review show on our YouTube channel called the Gaijin Review. The aim of the show is to showcase things from Japan that we like, without seeming like know-it-alls, and making sure there is at least one joke per episode. So far I think we're averaging 0.5 jokes per episode, but we are trying to improve that.

I have been a Crunchyroll member for years, and honestly didn't even know there was a forum here. Having noticed it, however, I decided to start a new account (for privacy reasons!) and post here with a little request.

If you have a couple of minutes, why not reply to this with any Japanese things you've seen that you think we'll like? This can be anything: manga, anime, music etc. If we like it, we'll put it in the show, and I'm totally happy to give you a shoutout on twitter/tumblr/youtube/whatever if something you suggested gets used.

I'll put out a tweet from my account (www.twitter.com/ghostofsparkles) to verify who I am, looking forward to finding some cool new stuff!

Sparkles*

Probably really biased towards this anime since I play World of Tanks but Girls und Panzer was a pretty interesting one. http://www.crunchyroll.com/girls-und-panzer

Okay, so far this tank girl anime is engrossing.

Yeah, I watched GC as it came out, what an amazing adventure, the ending *almost* made me cry, but I don't cry cause I'm a manly man. Honest.

Woah, nice list! I'll start making my way through it after I've watched this tank girl anime, which is getting stranger by the minute.

Loving the CG/hand-drawn fusion, it's done in such a unique stylistic way.

Kill la Kill was review this week, go check out what we thought: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nouc5IfvxAM

I was actually talking to my friends about this, as we're planning a Japan trip. Apparently we have to check out a Maid Cafe. I'm not sure I can do a full impartial review without going to one first hand, so watch out for that later in the year!

Have you seen 'Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet'? Another awesome show with a second season coming soon.

Also, isn't it like six in the morning over there?

No I haven't seen it, I like the title. I looked it up, apparently Verdurous means "vigorous greenery" which sounds good to me.

Also yes, yes it is. I went to sleep for a while, and then woke up again. I have a train to catch in a couple of hours and I find it difficult to sleep when I know I need to wake up. If you gets me.

Out of that list, Little Busters was well planned out, and loved, and known about, having been a famous Key (of Angel Beats and Clannad fame) Visual Novel. So everyone knew it would be good.

But I think Day Break Illusion was a sleeper hit in my book, or at least should have been. Really good magical girl anime on the likes of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Beyond the Boundary is just begging for some memes as well.

Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C3 is like, weird. Good, somewhat like that tank girl one, but it goes darker I think. Then brighter.

KINMOZA is a light fluffy comedy. Something to watch as you watch a more depressing anime and need a way to have faith in the world again. lol

Chronicles of the Going Home Club is a gag comedy anime. It ain't getting a second season, but for what it was, it was enjoyable.

I dunno what older anime you have watched. I'm a fan of yours so I know at least a few things, but like, I dunno if you missed out on some really good ones like Fate/Zero and Angel Beats.

But since you are doing a new show, and I assume you are looking for some new anime, I'll just send you info about the new anime I watch and not bother with the old stuff.

Oh, and almost forgot. Devil Survivor 2 was really good as well. Came out around the same time as Attack on Titan.
It was jokingly called in my circle "Game of Thrones the Anime"

In general, we do want to cover new stuff, but there's no real rules. Whatever goes. We just all love anime and Japanese music, and I need an outlet for this kind of content. We used to do the Gaijin Rock show, which had elements of this.

Monogatari is an anime that is pretty recent, at least it's newest season is. It's first season was released in 2009, with it's latest season ending around this New Years. This has some supernatural elements, such as ghosts, but you may want to watch to get a better idea. I enjoyed every season, and it might be interesting to take a look at.

Also, a lot of people get confused on the order to watch. Release order is this:

Bakemonogatari
Nisemonogatari
Nekomonogatari *a prequel to #1
Monogatari Second Season
