Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet is a Production I.G. anime released in the 2013 Spring Season.. I think it was the Spring season.

As far as anime goes, it was really good. It presented a unique and amazing world with interesting and amazing characters.

I'm looking forward to the sequel, but I'm fearful.

In season 1, the Robot Chamber took the spotlight as our breakout character, while heroine Amy was dropped by the way side in how little she meant to the overarching Plot the show was going for.

So.... I actually want to see her go through some proper character development, perhaps get us some actual romance. I also suspect that the entire Space plot won't even factor into this season, we'll probably deal with something more...raw and character driven. Or so I hope.

So what does everyone else think? I kinda went meh on putting this in the Gargantia discussion, as this is more to excite and anticipate than clog down the older thread. What do you guys want to see in this sequel?

I want something more along the lines of Zeta Gundam than Valvrave, if you catch my meaning.

I just want to know if Gen Urobuchi will be working on the sequel (and Psycho-Pass, and Fate/Stay Night). I wouldn't be automatically against other writers stepping in, but I'd like to see where he would take those stories from here.

And I'd be curious to see if any of my ideas that nobody else liked show up anywhere.

My final feelings towards Gargantia remain pretty venomous because in the end I felt like it was a hack story that was a complete waste of my time, but the characters, world, and situation they've set up could set up a solid second season.

I just hope it is a second season, and not a one-off movie or something. That wouldn't be enough.

I want Attack on Titan season 2 before anything else, after they're done with KnB s2 of course.

I will watch the new season, certainly, but I won't say that I have huge hopes for it.

To me, the original series was a lot of shining moments linked together in a rather shoddy way. In a sense, good concepts and even good scenes, but a lack of holistic unity. Now, that is a certain assessment that I am particularly interested in, so I could see it not bothering other people; however, in my experience, an internal unity and logic (which is only partially, but necessarily defined by the world building and systems of the fictional world) can do wonders for a show that misses in other areas.

The first season did not have that internal integrity, which is not even to say that it violated its own rules. But they weren't consistent, and that led to me feeling disjointed by the end of the show, despite all of the very excellent moments that occurred in between.

Plus all that stuff about unresolved themes...

Watched Gargantia during the Spring season back when it first aired, and I thought it was pretty good. I honestly don't care how the sequel turns out as long as it's still good, but I would like to see some more plot development on Earth instead of outer space. Now that Chamber is gone (at least in physical form), this is most likely what we can expect.

I liked Gargantia, but it was a little all over the place at times, and the ending left some lose ends that I hope a second season will sort out. Hopefully the second season won't be so disjointed and we get a little more into the current Galactic Alliance (which never really made much of an appearance in the first season). And, yeah. I also want to see more development on Amy. She was just the generic love interest/fanservice girl in the first season, which is a shame.

Cool, I guess? I still haven't watched the first season. It is sitting in the backlog section of my queue with 40+ other shows, though.

It's an interesting world and environment, a human population thriving on a world filled with water, I wonder what the second season has installed for the audience.

Would recommend this for my fellow sci-fi anime lovers.

I thought that there was actually nobody in his commander's mech. Maybe once someone gets to live in that one fake earth they either stay there or they are killed. Hopefully the whole human alliance is run by robots lol. Major plot twist

Huh, perfect timing since I just started to look in the first season of Gargantia.

Not so sure about Urobuchi is coming back, since currently the guy has his hands filled writing for Kamen Rider Gaim, but we'll see.

While I won't really comment on whether a second season is a good choice or not... I have already seen a huge split in the factions of fans. Those who want Chamber back and those who thinks he should stay gone.

I'm kind of looking forward to a second season, but I was pretty happy with how everything turned out at the end of the first season. I would rather them not bring Chamber back, he went out as a hero and if he came back his final lines would be pretty pointless.

There were only 2 things I really enjoyed in Gargantua, 1) Ledo before he became more human 2) Chamber. Those first few episodes with Ledo as sort of an alien to these people were awesome, after that though the series kind of got bland to me other than the Chamber scenes. However, Ledo now has a conscience and morals other than the eradication of the squid people, and Chamber is gone. So if this becomes a continuation of those odd middle scenes, then I don't think it will keep my attention for long.

The only way I see it being interesting is if they have the human army that is in space come to conquer the planet, or something like that.
