Furen, once a Lush and thriving jungle, though now only a shadow of its former self. when its land was ripped asunder by Cataclysm so too where the anceint and great tree's, there roots ripped from the ground, now a land covered in what remains of the jungle, and large canyons that are home to some of the most fearsome creatures that once slept deep below Jahan

Glasses chinked and smoke billowed across the the dark, dingy room. The tavern was mostly full of men although a few women could be seen wedged between them, here and there.
The door opened and a tall, dark haired man entered. The women eyes him with interest as he made his way to the bar and sat down.
"What'll you have sugar?" The barmaid asked as she leaned across the counter, her ample bosom resting on it.
"I'll have a beer and whatever is the meal for the night, " Kyle said distractedly as he dug in the pocket of his jacket and drew out a map.
"And for desert?" she purred, leaning over invitingly.
"Nothing." Kyle muttered, his eyes already on the map as he spread it out and began to read.
The barmaid pursed her lips then flounced off.
Kyle looked at the location he had marked on the map and then where he was presently.
"Is this the last tavern on the road?" He asked a man sitting a little further away.
"Aye, " the man said. "The road finishes off after the next town."
"Gotcha, " Kyle said then folded up the map.
"But you don't wanna be going there, " The man continued warningly. "I've heard nasty rumors about that place. Strange monsters have been seen there. I hear the town's been abandoned mostly.
"So I've heard, " Kyle said. And its not the only one. Towns all along the canyon line had been forced to evacuate because of monster attacks that had been increasing in frequency.

“BANDITS!!!!!” screamed a man from outside the bar; he crashed through the door in a nervous frenzy. The man looked like he had been running for a good while, “Bandits…there are bandits coming this way…going for the town…” said the man, heavily winded. Many of the patrons of the bar got out of their seats and grabbed various weapons, ready for a bandit attack it seems. Even Kyle stood up and joined the crowd of patrons, ready to fight if he had too. The group suddenly stopped when Kyle got outside and looked down the road where the man said they bandits were coming from, only to see them all laying in a pile with burns all over them, but none of them looked dead. The patrons then surrounded someone in the road that was in front of the bar when they all got out there. Kyle looked at the pile and could only think of one person who could have done something like this. He pushed his way through the crowd till he got to the middle of the circle and saw a familiar young man, in a familiar kimono, and with a familiar sword at his side. “Sango…I thought it was you” said Kyle with a smirk as he walked toward him. Sango turned and looked at Kyle, “Oh hey, how have you been? It’s been awhile” said Sango, completely ignoring the mob around him.

Kyle grinned, "Why am I not surprised to see you." He said.
"W-what the hell?" One of the man said as a few readied their weapons.
"This guy is not a bandit." Kyle said before they jumped on Sango. "Why don't you deal with them before they cause more trouble?"
A few men murmured and nodded when suddenly a large, muscular man stepped forward,a large club in hand. "You don't tell us what to do." he spat.
"Suit yourself. " Kyle said and turned to go back inside when the guy suddenly lunged and swung the club.
"Oye!"
"Watch out!" A few men yelled.
Kyle turned, catching the swinging club in his hand. For the men standing there, there was no comparison, Kyle was much thinner and shorter than the other man. Kyle's grip on the club tightened and there was the sound of wood cracking.
The man grunted and was out to yank the club back when he went still, his eyes fixed on something above Kyle's head. He suddenly yelled in fear and stumbled back, falling over the unconscious men.
"Youma!" He screamed fearfully.
Several other people looked around in panic.Youma were generally large, man eating animal beasts. Fearsome creatures that almost always meant bad news. But they saw nothing.
Kyle dropped the splintered club, looking like nothing happened. "Like I said, better round these bastards up before they wake up and decide to get revenge." Kyle said pleasantly then turned. "Come on, " He said to Sango who followed him into the bar.

"Idiots, " Kyle said as he plopped on the seat and pushed away his half eaten meal. "You ruined my meal, the beer's on you." He said and smiled at the barmaid. "I'll have another."

“That was new” said Sango as he placed down a gold coin from a pouch and set it on the bar. Sango always looked out of place where ever he went considering that very few places in Jahan even knew what kimonos were, but he was very stuck in his ways. Though the most striking part of his ensemble was the katana at his side, its white hilt wrapped with a red fabric, its guard was a rather plain wheel looking design, the sheathe was ruby red like his kimono. The only new piece he had on him was a thick, grey wool scarf that was wrapped around his neck. “Never saw you as the scarf type” said Kyle as he took a drink of his beer. Sango chuckled, “It was given to me by the daughter of a tailor as a thank you gift, I defeated a yeti that was attacking their village, nasty creatures, and a quite a bit stronger than I thought they would be” said Sango as he got a beer from the barmaid. “But, it ended up doing itself in by falling off a cliff into the jagged rocks below, I told the village where it was and now they are probably still skinning it for its fur” said Sango as he took a drink. “So are you here to help with that monster business too?” said Sango as he glance at Kyle, a more serious tone in his voice.

"Yeah." Kyle said. Before he could go on he heard a man call out to him.
Kyle looked over his shoulder.
"So gauging from the way you guys handled yourselves, Im guessin' you're warriors?" A man said walking up to them. A group of five people were standing behind him.
"What about it?" Kyle said, lazily arching an eyebrow.
"We;re headed up to the canyons ourselves." The man said. "We could use muscle heads like you on the team."
"Not interested." Kyle said, turning back.
The man clapped Kyle on the shoulder. "Come on fella. Haven't you heard there is safety in numbers." He grinned widely. "We're bounty hunters and there is quite a bounty on some of those uglies. If you help us bring a few down. I'd be willing to pay you two a nice price. Huh?" He swung an arm around Sango's shoulders and grinned winningly.

“Take my advice, don’t go in there” said Sango without turning around, “At your level, even the plants with kill you” finished Sango as he removed the man’s arm from his shoulder. “Wha? Come on, it’s a huge pay load, just one of those thing can get us-“, began the man, but Sango cut him off, “Haven’t you ever wondered why those bounties are so high? If it was that easy to take down those things, there would be no need for a bounty, plain and simple” said Sango as he glanced at the man. Kyle knew that look in Sango’s eyes, it was his serious eyes, which was different than his eyes in battle, but to someone who doesn’t know Sango, they look like the eyes of a killer. The guy was going to say something, but one look from Sango and he shut his mouth and without a word, gathered his guys and left the bar, walking the opposite direction of the forest. Sango turned back to the bar and scratched his head, “I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’m a muscle head” said Sango, his tone changed from serious to carefree.

Kyle grinned and said cheekily as he took a drink of his beer, "Nah you seem more of a knucklehead to me."
Sango chuckled.
Kyle paid for the meal then stood up, "We better get going."
Sango stood up and the two left the tavern.

They had walked a little way when Sango said, "We're being followed."
"Yeah," Kyle said, putting his hands in his pockets as they walked. "I think its those guys from earlier."
"Do they intend to follow us?" Sango said. "Its too dangerous for them."
"Let them come. If they are hell bent on committing suicide then who are we to stop them." Kyle said.

They approached the town. It was a sad sight to see. Half of it was destroyed and the buildings stood alone and vacant.
Their footsteps echoed on the stone pavements as they walked, looking around.
"The canyon is a mile from this town." Kyle said. "The monsters usually come out at night to feed, although on rare occasion, they have been seen out at day."

Sango looked around the town, not only was it deserted, but it looks the resident left in a hurry, some of the homes still had rotten food on dinner tables. Sango looked towards the direction of the canyon, he sensed some creatures nearby, but a majority of them were closer to the canyon. “What do you think? Should we say here till tomorrow? Or shall we keep going?” asked Sango as he glanced back the way they came, whoever was following them was still a good distance away, though Sango assumed it was because they weren’t as fit as Sango and Kyle.

"Let's stay here for the time being." Kyle said. "We know where to find the beasts so there's no rush. I want to see if we can learn something about them here."
Sango nodded and looked around, "While we're at it, we can look for some supplies."
Kyle cocked his head to the right, "I'll look here. You take the left."
Sango nodded and turned left and walked away.
Kyle stood where he was and waited, a little while later a group of men came into view. Kyle waited till they were within earshot, "Seems you have a death wish." Kyle said.
"Don't take us lightly, kid." The man from earlier wasn't as friendly anymore. In fact there was a decidedly mean look in his eyes, "We're not the lightweights you think we are. We have as much right as you to hunt those beasts and we're going to fucking do so."
"Don't expect us to saves your sorry hides later on." Kyle said as he turned right and walked away.

"Another locked one" Sango said as he broke a wooden door off of its hinges and walked inside "Even if they left in a hurry its almost like they had a faint bit of hope that they could one day return" Sango said as he rummaged through the house's kitchen finding little more than some matches. Sango stepped back out onto the street looking back down the way he had come and then the way he was going, though as he did, from out of the dark he caught a small glimpse of what looked like a giant insect carcass being dragged around the corner of a building. "I could have sworn we were alone" Sango thought to himself placing a hand on the hilt of his blade

Saya had finally tirelessly dragged a large Canyon Beast's body all the way back to the abandoned town, it had taken her most of the day, and now she was tired and worn out, she looked down at the Canyon Beasts body and sighed “How am I- She quickly silenced her self and took her bow off her back as a man rounded the buildings corner only to find a drawn bow pointing at his face.
“Who are you? A thief trying to steel my kill?” Saya said “Sorry to say this, but im not gonna let you take my kill, you best back off now, or you can take an arrow through your skull, its your choice”

Sango raised his arms casually as he found a young woman with a bow drawn on him and a giant insect-like creature behind her. “I have no interest in stealing anything from you, I was just looking for supplies and I just so happen to see you” said Sango with a calm tone; it was quite obvious he wasn’t worried about her threats. Glancing over at the giant incest, he noticed that it was riddled with arrows, “Is this one of those ‘Canyon Beasts’ I’ve heard so much about? Oh, but where are my manners, you asked me who I was, didn’t you” said Sango with a smile, “My name is Sango, Sango Shinzo”. Sango began to lower his arms slowly, “Since I’ve made it clear that I mean no harm, would you mind lowering your weapon, Miss…” said Sango with an inquiring tone, obviously expecting a reply.

Kyle walked along the town, observing the destroyed buildings. It seemed one part of the town was much heavily wrecked than the rest. He continued to walk when suddenly he noticed something strange that made him stop and retrace his steps.
"Huh?" Kyle said and knelt down, touching the ground. "Why does this part of the ground feel hollower than the rest?" He got up and followed it, tapping the ground with his foot every while or so.
He stopped when he came to a large opening in the ground that seemed it had been clawed out. He peered into the hole and could see only darkness.
"This is how they came in, huh?" Kyle mused. "Heh. This makes everything much easier."
He got up and spoke, "Bring Sango here."
There was a slight breeze as Kyle's hair ruffled then silence.

Saya Peered into the mans eye's it did not seem to her she was lying, and he did say he was a Shinzo "I've met one of the Shinzo tribe before" Saya said, her bow still drawn after a few more moments of silence she lowered her weapon "He was, a trustworthy man" Saya said as he put arrow and bow up.
"So, I have introduced myself, Would you introduce yourself?" Sango asked
"Saya, I'm a part of the wind clan" Saya said "And its just Saya"
"I assume you hunted this Canyon Beast yourself? its impressive" Sango said
"It took about 5 days and nights, they hunt in packs, once one strayed from the group I was able to take it out... this ones a smaller one though" Saya said "They're meat sells well, but its a dangerous occupation, there mandibles are strong enough to crush the mightiness of armor and arms, and even if you do manage to get away from one there mandibles are coated in a deadly poison." Saya warned "But again, the poison sack can sell pretty well too.... especially in today's world"

Sango walked up to the Canyon Beast, looking at it closer, he saw how it would be difficult to bring one down. The creature had a very tough hide, its exoskeleton was thick, but lightweight, even the arrows that pierced the hide didn’t go very deep. He walked to the other side of it where it belly was and saw that the underside of the beast was decently exposed. Glancing up at the creature’s neck, he saw a clean hole going straight through the other side of it. “I can assume that was her, considering she is from the Wind Clan” thought Sango as he glanced over at her. Sango stood up as walked towards Saya, examining her, “There is no possible way someone this young could have met another Shinzo, but she doesn’t seem to be lying either” thought Sango as he stopped near Saya. “You say you met a member of the Shinzo Clan before, would you mind telling me his name?” asked Sango in a calm voice. Suddenly, he felt a presence in his head; “Kyle summons you, Sango Shinzo” said the voice. It was deep and echoed, otherworldly even; catching a glimpse of his shadow, he saw a round creature with small arms and legs sitting on his shoulder as it suddenly vanished. Since Saya was looking right at him and was completely unfazed, Sango deduced that she didn’t see the creature. “It seems my companion needs to talk to me, you are free to come along if you wish, I want to hear about this other Shinzo you met” said Sango in an inviting tone.
