For anyone who was following this manga, what did you guys think about the ending? I've read the light novels so i knew how it'd all go down, but just having the manga end kinda left an empty void in me again. Now I want that third season of the anime to be produced!

I was hoping they'd include the white tiger in it but oh well, this end was worth it though:

Now we just need to see that in the anime

The ending was predictable but I fully enjoyed the series. There was one chapter that surprised me quite a bit when a sudden character died though.

I wonder if this manga will ever be adapted into anime. Kyoto Animation can make it happen....

Having already read a (fairly poor, frankly) fan translation of the light novels, I can't help but compare the manga to that. In many ways, the manga is equal to the original LN. In some ways, it is a bit better because of the visual aspect of the story. However, there are also several points where I felt the manga dropped the ball, in the long run. Large parts of one of the volumes of the LN were skipped wholesale. (It has been a while since I read that part, but it is either "Come Make My Day" or "Approaching Nick of Time".)

One of the good points was the way it handled "Dancing Very Merry Christmas". Originally the manga skipped it entirely, but it was added in near the end as a flashback, which fit incredibly well with the
. That was really well done.

I did find one glaring error: "Class of '98" on the graduation ceremony sign. There is no way this can be correct! The story (in the light novels and manga) starts in 1998, when Kaname is in her 2nd year of high school. The events of "Dancing Very Merry Christmas" occur on her 17th birthday, on December 24, 1998. (In the anime, things are pushed back three years, with the Whispered being born in 1984 instead of 1981.) They should be the class of 2000, not 1998. Their final year of high school would have starting in 1999 and the end of the manga is in the spring of 2000.

The other thing that bugged me was the scene we had all been waiting for:

If they ever get around to animating the end of the story, I sincerely hope that the anime writers stick closer to the light novel in that particular scene...

I agree, they did handle Dancing Very Merry Christmas very well by doing so; it made the story flow a little better. One thing I was hoping that the manga would do, was go a little extra and showed what happened in the future (can't find LN translations of Full Metal Panic! Another to find out). As in what of Tessa's life, did Sousuke go to college(lol), Kurz/Mao future, Wraith, etc. I guess since they threw away the high school/slice of life stuff back in the 8th LN, extra endings like that weren't gonna be included I can only hope(unfortunately) that KyoAni picks this up again, animates the rest, and make one final spectacular OVA.

Also, which part from the LN did they skip over? Or at least what happens? It's been a while since I read the LNs but I'm interested in what scene it was. Nevertheless, I think the manga did a great job adapting the light novel, albeit the white tiger at the end

It is worth it! If you have the time/interest, you should read the light novels instead, but I can't complain about the manga as it was adapted very well.

FMP will likely never get animated again. The Second raid averaged about 4.5-5k copies per disk. Being animated by Kyoto Animation this probably meant a rather large loss.

But I'm right there with you. I'd love to see more. I've just given up hope

It ain't over until Gatoh says it's over, though. He told the fans that, if it is ever determined that there will not be any more seasons of FMP animated, he will tell us. He has hinted that there are talks and possibilities for the past two years, so I hope he isn't just being a giant tease and that he is still working hard for his fans.
