I wanted to point this out too. Even though I do have a manga membership, I'd be much more interested in having a LN membership instead because this could have much more unique and interesting possibilities that could have a very positive effect on the US LN market (that doesn't really exist yet).

This is an amazing idea. Getting professional translations for LN's would be really nice and it could really help expand the LN market in the US. I think this is a good idea because people don't have enough exposure to them.

Furthermore, this could be a good advertising point for LN's that are getting animes streamed on Crunchyroll or something like that.

I think we could pay per volume actually, but just not have to incur shipping costs. Usually LN's are only around $9 but the shipping costs make them cost much more. This makes it difficult to buy many from Japan at once. Being able to conveniently read them online for maybe half-price or some other worked out system would really brighten many people's days.

Now that's what I'm talking about! I have high expectations that CrunchyManga and Kadokawa's Comic Walker could be a huge stepping stone for legal online manga reading to the point where more people can have wider legal access to manga stories without having to resort to piracy or importing from Japan. Of course, they've gotta see how successful these manga apps prove to be in the long-run, but if it accomplishes that with fruitful results then hopefully LNs can be the next step.

As a writer, I'd love this. Especially if they allow user created content. Preferably screened first.

This would be amazing, if done right. Publishers might even be willing to fund part of the cost of translating, depending on how the revenue is shared between Crunchy Roll and the publishers (who, if the Japanese book market is similar to the one in America, would then pay royalties to the author....hmmm, might have to create new contract language though, if not already part of the one between author and the publisher for this sort of thing).

That would be really neat. Light novels in general don't have enough of a presence in the English-speaking market.

I think it'd be a good move; There aren't many other places to read translated light novels and the only ones I can think of that are currently being translated into English by official companies are Sword Art Online and Accel World.

As another writer I second this.

Another thing that could be done is getting more VNs released, too.

I would definetely like to see light novels translated on CR! There are a few different anime I would love to read the light novels they are based on as the anime itself has ended or never picked up more seasons ( full Metal panic etc). Not the mention being able to read unknown ones!

I would definitely be interested in this. There are so many light novels that I want to read (the Monogatari series!) but can't because they aren't translated. (Well, officially anyway)

The problem with that is the library of translated LN are quite small. And I doubt the ones that have been fan-translated would be permitted here.

Would be neat though.

I'd certainly like it, but I would want the option to read Manga and LN in Japanese.

I agree, there are so many LN that I have a interest in reading but can't read because they aren't in English.. Hundred, Irregular at Magic High School, Highschool DxD, just to give a few examples.
