Also for those asking for Haruhi, most of the novels are already translated into English by Yen Press and available at amazon.
1st volume: http://www.amazon.com/Melancholy-Haruhi-Suzumiya-Nagaru-Tanigawa/dp/0316039020 Paperback
The hardcover versions have the original Japanese cover art but they may not be as available anymore.
They have I think I think actually all the volumes released in Japan available in English. In Japan the original is on hiatus though iirc.

I am most interested in getting to read light novels by Yoshiki Tanaka (the author Arisan Senki and Legend of Galactic heroes)

Absolutely! It would be fantastic to be able to read LNs here on Crunchyroll and I'd be more than willing to pay a bit extra if that is what it would take.

Yes! I want some way to read Durarara! in light novel form.
Out of interest, does anybody know where I might find a translated copy?

Check Amazon.com in a few months, the LN has been licensed and will be released by Yen On in July 2015.

That's great news, thank you! A weekly episode just isn't enough for me.

I would prefer CR work out the kinks in their manga system first. Every other week I find missing or pixelated pages in the simulpubs I read. And I am finding a lot of incorrectly aligned 2-page spreads.

Eventually though, would be neat to see some LNs on CR. I've been getting more and more into them lately.

I think Light Novels don't quite of have a market as compared to Manga & Anime, ofcourse me and you read them but still it's not that popular so I guess CR will have a hard time deciding on it, besides instead currently I think CR should focus on improving their Manga library!

Pretty much this. There are countless series that have manga adaptations that were licensed instead of the light novel for the English speaking market. That and it takes much more effort to translate a light novel to English compared to an anime or manga. If something like this does get added, it will probably not be anytime soon. The fact that only Yen Press is the only publisher currently even seriously pursuing light novels just shows that there isn't a current market for it yet. Doesn't help that things didn't work out in the past either.

However, at the very least I'd like them to sell light novels in their store if only to spread more awareness of the existence of light novels that have been translated into English.

I would love this! Would also love for them and the manga and anime to have the option to read/watch original source material (In Japanese/without subs) Have wanted this forever yet feel it will never happen

I'm for this too :D. I use CR on my TV mainly with Roku, but... I mean if you can adjust the font and make it bigger, I think it would be interesting and neat to eat a meal and read a novel on the TV :D. It's better than eating & reading the newspaper haha.

I hope the reqs for getting your novel hosted on CR won't be too high. I'd love it if they'd put my novel up :D.

It would be cool i suppose, but first they need to actually get the anime streaming fixed first.and small bugs here and there first before they try to add something else.

This would be awesome, it could have an opportunity to really publish stuff that other companies wouldn't touch. Yen Press can't publish all the light novels, although they are doing a good job of it right now by adding so many great series. I would love to read Overlord with an official translation.

I definitely think it would increase exposure to light novels, as well as get a lot of light novels we don't get to have more readily accessible because crunchy roll would translate them for us
