Post Reply Which anime could actually make a good live action movie?

Btooom!
Albeit a similar movie was already done but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. All I know was that it stared "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Dang, someone already mentioned Baccano.

It's well within that realm of cinematic possibility while maintaining all of it's good points so it's all good I suppose.

Aside from that I think Umineko no Naku Koro ni could make a good movie since it's got a good mystery to it and doesn't have anything really difficult to film to the best of my memory.

I think Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Aldnoah.Zero, Valvrave, Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night The Unlimited Blade Works, Ergo Proxy, High School of the Dead, and Noragami could all be good live action movies. To do them justice I think they would need to be divided up into about 3 movies.

Slice of Life works really well, because you can cut with impunity and easily drop it into two hours:

- Bunny Drop
- Barakamon

Others:
- Kotoura-San (focus it on Kotoura's relationship with her mom as counter-pointed by her relationship with Manabe, drop the cop drama bits and the love triangle)
- Myself; Yourself (drop most the bits with the twins and make it more into a love story)
- Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Baccano - it will appeal to the west easily with the prohibition mafia setting,

Monster, with the caveat of it being a live action tv show.
This is actually potentially a thing, with Guillermo del Toro behind it, it's currently being considered for HBO. The material here would be easy to adapt to live action.

Naoki Urusawa's Monster... That would make a fantastic live action, as it is all fairly realistic (or could be, at least, a historical fiction...) and there are no stick-figure characters...in fact, there are quite a few larger ones, and the story is amazing too.

I think I read about that somewhere. And I find it exciting.
If any director is going to do anime stuff, I want it to be Guillermo del Toro. I really enjoy his movies.
