Ogi from the really underrated anime Legend of Black Heaven

He used to be a heavy metal star before failing and having to deal with a work-a-day grind, but he gets swept up into an interstellar war. An adult who really deals with adult things.

Wanted to like this series, didn't get past episode 1

Vash the Stampede. Appears to be in his mid twenties (actually 181 years old). Comedic relief, upholder of all that is love and peace, and quite dashing. What's there not to love?

v I wouldn't see why not, good choice by the way.

Do the elderly count for this thread?

If so, then Genkai from Yu Yu Hakusho.

My vote goes for Hibito Nanba from "Space Brothers". Next to Mutta, he's my favorite adult character in this show! He's so mature, yet so cool and confident.

Emiya Kiritsugu from Fate/Zero

I really admire how he calculates and observes every situation carefully, and I admire how he sticks to his philosophy of sacrificing for the greater good. Besides, an anti-mage in a magic-centered world who actually gets shit done is always badass!

I love Kiritsugu and Fate/Zero in general because it's mainly an adult cast. No whiny kids doing stupid things.

Also besides all the Gintama adults, my other favorite is Roy Mustang. He's one cool cat.

Though not at all my favorite, I liked what Mitsuo Yamami stood for. He was awful, he was condescending, but his intentions were in the right place. And then he went through something that was mind-blowing for me at the time. He changed.

Some kids made him lose his job, put everything he worked on to waste, and for a while he thought that they were putting themselves and everyone else in unnecessary danger as well. I completely expected him to go down the vengeful, angry adult antagonist route the whole way.
But he didn't. He lost his job, but he sat around, he thought, and then he understood. And supported them. Contacted all their parents, wired up a communication system, and did his best to help out from his side while they were stuck alone in the digital world.

He probably isn't the only one who goes through this transformation, but that was really cool to me when I first saw it.
