Well, the one I've been able to watch repeatedly is High School DXD or So I Can't Play H. So, I guess it is my favorite. But, I think part of it is how you define ecchi. There's some anime that falls under that heading that I don't really think are ecchi (like A Bridge To the Starry Skies).

Peoples definitions are broad on the subject, i've seen some clarify if it has fanservice shots (of females at least) it is Ecchi, so pretty much anything that shows cleavage, panties, or talks about or emphasizes sexual situations (or body parts) could be considered Ecchi in some places I have seen. So you know... like 80% of Anime?

How can I choose just one?!
I choose the To Love-Ru series just because I find it funny, and Lala is my favorite girl

Ecchi is a genre, fanservice is extra things added. Fanservice can be anything from boob shots to gratuitous blood, transformation scenes, etc in an anime that's not the genre or wherever it's not expected. So like in a porno, showing nudity wouldn't be fanservice, just like comedy in a comedy anime wouldn't be fanservice, but comedy in a serious anime could be fanservice. TVTropes explains it nicely.

"While the specific term "fanservice" arose from the Anime community, the concept of adding a little titillation to a work is far, far older. When nudity or sexual content is an expected part of a work, it's not fanservice; it's only when the nudity or sex is thrown in "just because" that fanservice becomes a part of the narrative. For example, nudity in a pornographic movie would not qualify, while Sharon Stone's infamous "beaver shot" in Paul Verhoeven's Basic Instinct would. Real fanservice is seldom explicit or graphic — that is the territory of pornography. Instead it is primarily there to "add a little extra" by teasing and titillating the audience. "

OT: I like Sekirei, Isekai Seikishi no Monogatari, and High school of the Dead.

Hm.. I love a lot of ecchi series, it's hard to pick just one.. but one that remains in my head is Kanokon. I also love Highschool DxD, Asobi ni Iku yo!, B Gata H Kei & Kiss x Sis.

you could probably consider Monogatari and Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta to be ecchi series.... they're two of my all time favorite series ever.

if you don't want to count them, then I'd have to say Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, which has good story and characters, but ends on a huge cliffhanger.. and there's STILL no word on a season 2. Hyakka Ryouran is also a good series.

Honestly, both terms are so broad of a description everyone kind of has their own definition of it i've noticed. But yeah I definitely agree on that description of fanservice, it is how I describe it at least.

Ecchi is like Highschool DxD, Sekirei, Maken-ki, or To Love Ru to me at least.

But I have seen people classify a lot tamer shows as Ecchi and I am just like @_@ eh?

I don't consider things like minimal fanservice or talking about that sort of thing for comedy, ecchi. So, things like Rosario+Vampire (first season at least), and Infinite Stratos aren't really ecchi.

When they start using those black bars and steam then it counts, so Sekirei, Kiss x Sis and Maken-Ki!
