Harry should have married Hermione - JK Rowling's Own Words
Posted 2/1/14 , edited 2/2/14
For all you Harry Potter fans out there, JK Rowling herself has come out and said that Hermione should have ended up with Harry.

Agree or no?

I think what really bugs me though is Harry/Ginny. It always felt way too rushed, too forced and just...Blah to me. Though I wish it were different, I'm okay with Ron/Hermione...But Harry/Ginny? Ugh. Just no, no.

Harry Potter has always been my favorite series since I was in grade school.. and I never really cared that much about the romance.
I was truly happy that Ron ended up with Hermione though, I don't know why but I accepted it right away and I thought they were cute together?
As for Harry, I thought he'd end up either with Cho or Ginny.
I really can't see Harry and Hermione together because them being best friends is what I'm really used to xD

I enjoyed the Harry Potter world the first time round... but I was never into it enough to care post series. A few friends tried getting me into fanfics to no avail.

That said when I watched and read the series, I though Ron would die some heroic death, probably protecting somebody, Harry, who would probably be injured in some way (not fatally mind you), would end up with Hermione.

But then it was like around book 4 or 5 (movie as well obviously) where it seemed a odd curveball happened and all of a sudden it was Hermione and Ron rather than Harry. I still thought my ending would happen though so I just shrugged it off. But well never happened obviously.

Didn't hate how it ended, just wasn't what I expected from it.

I'm not much of a shipper, but I don't agree. I personally think that Harry and Hermione are too similar, and are better off left as friends.

But that aside....why come out and say this now, years after the series is done? Rather pointless if you ask me.

I think its nice that the main male and female characters don't get together for once. It wouldn't have been as interesting and Ron may have ended up a third wheel.

Honestly if it was me id probably have a thing for Luna but while Ginny never really interested me the fact that she was the best friend's sister was what made it ok in my book, that sort of friendship happens a lot. Hermionie and Ron on the other hand was less believeable but still quite possible, though i wouldve prefered more closure as a whole on the entire series. A couple pages at the end didnt really satisfy me.

Personally, I found most of the romance in Harry Potter awkward. None of the couples that ended up together seemed to have much chemistry to me; and, honestly, I think that Harry/Hermione would be similar. Their relationship definitely felt like close friendship/sibling-like to me.

I also would've been fine with Harry/Luna though, and I genuinely felt like things were going that way toward the end.

I always felt the Harry/Ginny relationship felt rather forced. It didn't jive with the characters or story as it had developed, and it seems the reason why is because it actually was forced.

Hermione and ron were always going to be together, it was clear as day from the 1st novel. I don't deny there was a spark between harry and hermione, hp7 showed just how much harry cares for her, and it could've gone that way but neither wanted to ruin their friendship & they preferred someone else anyway.

Harry falling for ginny was a nice twist, it developed from a fan love for ginny to actual love while harry saw her for who she was and not as the little sister of his best friend.

I found the love to be realistic, it didn't always go the way i thought it would've, but that was good that it didn't follow stereotypes/predictions. Keeps it realistic that you don't see it coming.

Pretty sure she never explicitly said Hermione should have gotten with Harry in her actual comments, only that she regretted pairing her up with Ron. Yahoo's twisting her words a bit there.

I don't really mind any of the final pairings - the series never really put much focus on their relationships anyway, until the very last book. Personally I'm glad she never tried to go down the HarryXHermione route as their completely non-sexual friendship was perfect and quite a nice twist that it was in many ways more stable than his friendship with Ron.
