It has been several weeks since the Roku app was resubmitted. Amy word on what its status is? Really getting tired of waiting but don't want to have to get a different box to watch it on tv.

I'm still waiting on it to, so your not alone!

But I was looking online, and I think I saw that it takes atleast 2 weeks after the app has been submitted to be approved or denied. Hopefully, it gets approved by Roku!

Wow, there is a thread about the update now. I have been waiting for more than 6 months, and other users even for more time. I really want to watch my anime in HD, so I will not loose the hope.

Consider me one more patiently, but eagerly, waiting to hear word.

Add me as one who is waiting, although I'm getting increasingly impatient. It's been a rather long time since we heard Roku would get HD and we're still waiting. It's hard to be mad at Crunchyroll since I think they're great, but damn, it sucks to use Roku for CR. The new update was submitted at least 23 days ago now, so it should hit any day now I hope. Roku's approval process can't possibly take that much longer, can it?

Well, I dug out the old Roku again as I needed to test something on more than one CR platform and, for me anyway, the Roku app really is unusable in its current form.

If nothing else is using the older streams apart form Roku, it does basically mean that in the UK the likelihood of being anywhere near a cached stream of the episode is close to zero at the moment.
I really hope that the new app gets approved soon. Even "buggy" would be an improvement under "can't play streams".

I managed to dig up some official information from Roku itself:

Assuming you have followed all the Design Guidelines, this approval process usually takes about a week.

On the flip side, I found this in the Roku forum:

Our channel, 99 Cent Movie Channel, was submitted for approval more than a month ago and we are eager to go live before the holidays.

Given all of the above, I would surmise that if the app hasn't been approved by now, it probably hasn't been, and that Roku is rather slow about confirming an app hasn't been approved.

Assuming Roku doesn't simply say "rejected" without giving any guidance as to why, it would seem rather strange for CR's app to be rejected a second time around. Absent any other information, however, I suspect that is what has happened.

It would be really nice if crunchy would give us a update, rejected, still in queue don't know whats going on. The complete silence is frustrating.I want HD on my tv and don't want to go to apple to get it. Already have 5 rokus don't want to start over. Please tell us SOMETHING.

I just wish that they just use a private channel for beta testing for the Roku app. I'm tired of waiting and I'm greedy to watch CR on my tv in HD with my roku. Atleast with a private channel, we can get the app soon, since there no roku approval needed.

I asked Bjaker about this before, since there are those of us that would put up with a potentially buggy app for the chance to watch in HD on the Roku and it would help find any issues with the app before it went through the approval process.

There was some issue he reported that prevented it. My memory on what it was isn't clear, but I believe it was since the new app implemented a different method of streaming, it was effectively an "all or nothing" approach.

I feel your pain as I was in your shoes for a long time regarding the new Roku App. After moving over to an AppleTV however, I can honestly say that I wish I had done it sooner. HD Crunchyroll looks awesome and Netflix now consistently streams in HD as well (Roku Netflix app streamed horribly low-quality most of the time for some reason). I also love that you can customize how the Netflix app displays subtitles on the AppleTV since I had trouble reading the standard small yellow font. It isn't all perfect though since I don't care for the ApplyTV UI as much and the CR app shows a blank screen when you FF/REW (makes it hard to skip opening credits) but overall, I'm very happy with my decision. Also, if you get it at Target there is a 90 day return window so you can try it out while waiting for the new Roku app.

Just like Option01, I "fixed" my Roku app — by getting a PS4.

Pretty pissed about the Crunchyroll Roku team. It's like they just abandoned the whole thing. Maybe one engineer is working on it in his spare time. Who knows?

I do know that on every other device, Crunchyroll looks and works amazing. It's just a damn shame about the Roku.

I would say is is extremely likely CR has only one person working on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if his activities were somewhat divided.

I believe many people would be shocked by how small CR is in terms of size (both in staff and finances) compared to many other sites people compare it to (i.e, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube):

Indeed, Netflix has over 2000 employees worldwide. Hulu has around 750 I believe. As the article stated, we reached the 50 employee mark not too long ago.
