I don't care much for small talk, but once I get to a topic that interests me it's tough to get me to stop.

Most people I work with label me as the really quiet guy, but the few that know me joke around and we shoot the breeze with no problems. One of my neighbors thinks I'm creepily antisocial though, I don't even know how I gave her that image when we'd never spoken before.

Not at all. In fact, I was booted out of the military for not being social enough!

One of the (relatively major) problems with modern society is that it's an extrovert's world - not a bad thing in and of itself, but the problem is that extroversion is considered the 'default' social attitude, so deviating from it is "wrong." Hard to live in a society that rejects you.

Anyway, to answer the questions:

1. There's nothing wrong or weird with being asocial. The problem is that most people don't (or can't) understand why someone would be that way.
2. I never particularly feel guilty about not going out. If someone's going out of their way to spend time with me then I might (don't want to be rude), but otherwise, nah.
3. Pressure, yes, but I don't give in so easily.

I'm not an overly social person and I'm fine with my small group of friends we play games while talking over skype and about once a month we hangout IRL, and I greatly prefer being the way I am rather than having to surround myself with people because I can't stand being alone, it's a good thing to be comfortable enough with yourself that you don't need other people 24/7

It really depends. Sometimes I am and I desire company, other times I prefer to be alone and morbid.

Nope. I prefer being alone and find being around people to be a nuisance. Even being the slightest bit social burns me out quite a bit since I usually don't have much to say and keeping up conversations is tedious.

Oddly enough, I'm pretty social around my guildmates. They're the people I feel most comfortable around and I've been with them for roughly 4 years. Hell, they're like family to me.

Well, technically, it was for having Schizoid Personality Disorder, which is just a fancy way of saying someone's asocial.

No really, I may not have a psych degree but I have read up on it and studied some psych. There are paragraphs upon paragraphs about most other PDs, but not mine - in a sophomore-level psych book there's 2 paragraphs. It's not well researched and I never had problems performing on the job or with other people.

But hey, social paradigms.
