I used to have a fairly large collection of DVDs and figurines when I was younger, but I lost interest in all of them. I only keep the anime series that are my favorite in my room now. Which are:

There ya go... not pictured are Canaan (Blu-ray Complete Col.) and Mardock Scramble (Blu-ray Movies 1 & 2 with 3 Pre-ordered). Around 70 titles thus far. First one I bought was Birdy the Mighty: Decode because of that 80's sci-fi feel I got from it and the collection grew from there...

I got most of them for great deals, such as all of Ghost in the Shell for a great price of $50 (all seasons, movies, etc). Wasn't expecting that...

These are just the notable times that i can remember:

Ok, my anime merchandise collecting experience started out when i would get anime-related videogames. There was a Zatch Bell game i saw in Best Buy that recently came out at the time and i just had to get it.

Few years later i saw Soul Eater and thought Death the Kid's rings were really cool and i had to get them. I did.

Then...it happened. I was on Youtube after just finishing Oreimo and i wondered if someone had collections like Kirino. I found this person that absolutely shocked me. Ordinary-looking guy, but when he did his room tour, it was covered with wallscrolls, figures, posters, dakimakuras, and some dvds. I just felt jealous that he made his room look so cool and then i remembered it's always been my dream to have a game oriented room. So, why not include anime merch? I went on AmiAmi since that is where he said he got his stuff and the time had come.

Currently, i am trying to work on my collection and i just recently started to actually buy things from AmiAmi, instead of just admiring the goods. I actually just got my first package mailed this Monday. It got a swimsuit Misaka (Railgun) and a swimsuit Momo (To-Love Ru) to add to my growing collection. Instead of going on Ebay for my collection, i feel alot better using this site to get things, not to say i won't use Ebay again. One step closer to my anime-game room!

I mostly collect wallscrolls and figures since they look really nice when displayed, but for DvD's and Blu-Rays, iv''e always had that mentality of, "I can just watch it online". I do have a couple though, and will hopefully change that thinking. Dakimakuras...yeah...i don't get those.

AnoHana + Bunny Drop Premium Edition!?!
I envy you... especially with AnoHana...
But I see that you have the regular editions of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Is it worth the money, ie the packaging and extras?

Well, the regular Blu-rays of Madoka Magica were $120 altogether and are really just bare-bones with no extras besides clean OP and ED songs. If you like the series enough, I'd say go for it when you absolutely know you want to spend the money for it. The regular DVD versions are $80 or so, in case you were wondering about them. Really, it's not worth the money for what you get (12 episodes) while similarly I got all of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for the same price (both seasons, all the shorts, and the movie), but as I said if you like it enough go for it.

One of the greater things I am proud to have is the Gunbuster / Diebuster Blu-rays, Time of Eve Blu-rays, Gunslinger manga volumes, and the Battle Angel Alita manga volumes. But, ah, that's just me. Also, I do rewatch the shows from time to time and in all languages available (mainly Japanese and English).

Mines about a terabyte. It came free when I signed up for Time Warner. .... ... WINK... I jest. My physical collection is zero. I just don't have room for billions of discs and such ~sigh. I do, however, have a few subscription based sites I frequent (CR is my 'go-to', of course)

I remember back in the early days the only anime you could find were bootleg fan sub shows on vhs with 3 yes count them 2 esp for $60 to a $100 apeace if you were even lucky to find those

Back in my day, we had to differentiate between Spanish and English tapes, and it was harder than it looked! They didn't always make separate cases!

Oh the joys of living in the 90's and being within walking distance of a distribution/dubbing company(Funimation)

You have my most sincere condolences, nobody should be forced to read those books. That said,

I have a new thing for you to buy. Have you heard of A Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen?

I'm really not in a position in my life to Read right now, which is very very unfortunate. Hey, compared to Dragonlance, Drizzit was like, amazing. It's like comparing Ikki Tousen to Generic Harem's like Champione! or Shuffle!(omg the ! in their titles....). Sure sure they suck ass, but compared to Ikki Tousen? Far better. You just gotta accept some of the stupid.

Very soon, I'm going to be adding a Zaku II Char Custom Cosplay to my collection. It's just going to sit there, in the background... forever.
And I'll wear it at Halloween parties!

Large collection of dvds and blurays. I used to try to watch every show at least once a year, then it grew to two years, now I don't want to think how long it would take to watch it all.

I don't collect much else besides discs. I have started to collect Manga that has not been animated yet. Started with Berserk.

I do like to pick up odd anime things, I have a Gundam Wing skate board for instance, but mostly my collection is just discs and collectors editions.

Most I ever spent on a series so far was Kimagure Orange Road. Set me back hard, and will probably be the top until I finally bit the bullet and buy all the Urusei Yatsura discs. >.< Not looking forward to that...

I've been building up my collection for a while, but I only have about half a dozen or so. I'm not a 'gotta have em all' kind of guy, I buy the ones which really touch me emotionally, and I will carry them through life as a reminder of the person I want to be.

Only had a few box sets at first then i started collecting around mid 2013.
I have watched pretty much everything in my collection with the exception of a few series that I just bought. i only like buying things that are re-watchable so they don't collect dust for too long

I've been collecting anime/manga here and therer for almost 25 years and still collecting stuffs. Along the way, I gave or sold some stuffs which I no longer need and now my shelves are overflowing again.

Living the old school otaku spirit, my collection focus has become gathering behind-the-scene information and doing curatorial study about subject I'm most interested in. The subject is Japanese animators' skill and workflow.

I've realized that most anime trinkets don't do me any good on that matter. For example, I have some Fulll Metal Alchemist pencil boards somewhere in my house and I have no use for them.

Collecting anime/manga stuffs gives us all of pleasure for a short period of time, but most of them is not long term as fads and trends fade away. I've met a guy who used to collect anime toys and figures, but once he found a girlfriend (live 3D girl, not 2D girl ), and now he is contemplating on getting rid of the toys he've bought.

Unless you enjoy the same anime/manga over and over again or found secondary use/purpose for stuff you've collected, it's not worth spending money on them.

If you bought certain stuffs out of impulse, then those are just disposibles in the long run. If you agonized over on buying or had wonderful memory with certain stuffs, then keep those. Either way, all treasures will get destoryed, lost, or, stolen in turbulance of life.

Please PM me if you don't believe that I'm a collector. I have a few photos somewhere in hard drive of other computer.
