Latest table-top gaming I've done included a 1040 =D

In all seriousness, I used to play Zombie Dice with my friends a few years ago. Still my most favorite board-less board game.

Arkham Horror
Mansions of Madness
Dominion
Miskatonic School for Girls
Tanto Cuore

Arkham Horror is probably about as hardcore as you can go when it comes to boardgames. That shit takes at least half an hour to an hour to set up so if you're just starting out. It's really fun though. Mansions of Madness is kind of like Arkham Horror except that it takes less time and is a lot more story-driven which is probably why it's my favorite out of all the games I named. The last three are deckbuilding games, but they're still all fun. If you like cute japanese maids, play Tanto Cuore.

Oh, I forgot Elder Sign.. >_< It's the same concept as Arkham Horror and Mansions but in a dice game format. It's pretty simple so I guess it'll be the easiest to get into if you're new to tabletop gaming.

At one of my old jobs, we had a board game lunch Friday, where my boss brought in games from his huge collection, so I got to try a bunch.. ah, much fun! Can't even remember all the ones we tried, and it was just a fraction of his collection.

Some of my favorites would be Munchkin, Bang!, Ticket to Ride, and Kung Fu Fighting, Cards Against Humanity, & Apples to Apples. Partly it depends on the size of the group, though - Bang!, for example, gets a lot more interesting the more people you have, and you can't even play if you don't have at least 4, I think.

I'm interested in Tanto Coure, I remember when it was just in Japanese, but it has an English edition now?

Where would someone go to buy it?

Run for your life, Candyman is so much fun.
Description:
A twisted parody of a classic board game. Yours is a sugar frosted land of confection. But underneath the candy covered veneer lies a disturbing truth. The king is selling the sweet citizens out the back door to voracious children all over the world. Now it's a mad dash for the border to save your little candy buttons. And if you have to snap a few ginger limbs to do it - well, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I really like Killer Bunnies but with all the expansions, it takes too long to play now. I don't suggest going expansion crazy on it. It is a lot of fun to play though.

Flux is a fun, constantly changing card game. I think they just made a board game version too, but it's known for the various card game versions.

Japanime Games sells Tanto in English, there are 3 of them (with a 4th game on the way). Although i prefer Kanzume Goddess, it's faster to play and gets a lot more heated.

Yeah, there's an English version now. There're even expansions to it. I would suggest checking out your local hobby store, they might have it or be able to order it for you.

Is that an English set too?

Oh, and to add to the topic, Monsterpocalypse is a fun game too, tabletop monster fighting with 3D model pieces.

I worry a lot about the cute maid thing being male centric. But, I've seen several girls reviewing the game on amazon etc.

So, I imagine that in the game, love is a purer and more general thing and that none of the characters look indecent?

I was considering buying Dominion for a while and Miskatonic School for Girls sounds fun as well.

I guess I may as well contribute to OP as well.
My little sisters play a lot of Forbidden island, and I play Pandemic from time to time. Since you're working Co-Operatively to win the two board games (one being acquiring relics and escaping an island, the other having you stopping 4-5 spreading viruses) it can be a nice change of pace compared to competitive board games. Not much to look at though..

Try Arkham Horror for a REALLY good board game (or eldritch horror for a lighter version of arkham)

Also House at the top of the hill is REALLY good as well as Shadows over Camelot
