[mod edit akin to closing the barn doors after the horses have left (sorry about that): This thread contains spoilers for Naruto Shippuden and assumes knowledge of events fairly recently revealed. --lorreen]
Spoiler...

Spoiler...

Spoiler...

So, I don't feel as though this has been seriously touched upon.

Thoughts would be appreciated. I feel as though this is an excellent conversation piece.

Forgot to mention:

I also realize that after witnessing Rin's life being taken away by Kakashi, his entire world was completely shattered, but I still don't think it's plausible for Obito to completely disregard the wellbeing of his former sensei, his wife, & their newborn child.

I just don't think his life could have been so severely "rocked" enough as to do that to his former sensei/mentor.

Say spoiler all you want

your thread title already SPOILED IT ALL FOR ME. SPOILED IT LIKE MILK LEFT IN THE FRIDGE WHILE YOU'RE ON VACATION.

I mean, CR's preview-thingy about "dah next episode ship udder reveals just who the evil guy is, and it's that guy" has already spoiled it.

BUT YOU'VE SPOILED IT ALL! I HATE YOU!

I'm not so sure you understand how trolling works.
Say you dislike someone, and you're in a position to screw with them. You do it.
Say you hate someone, and you're in a position to REALLY screw with them. You do it.

As far as plans go, killing the family for revenge is the one least likely to backfire(outside of Fiction, in which it's the most likely)

And as they all say, when you don't care...you don't care!

He believes that the new world madara is creating Minito, Rin and everyone will be there so it doesn't matter who he kills to achieve his goals.

You're not embracing Obito's rationale. He can murder anyone he wants in order to win because once the world is under Madara's spell everything will be fixed. So nothing Obito does now "matters" to him in any moral sense.

He can wreck or end as many lives as he needs to because he'll just fix them all later.

Edit: What Stockie said.

There is just one thing I don't understand. If the plan is to put everyone under a genjutsu, won't that just mean that everyone is seeing their own dream? So does it really matter if he puts everyone under a genjutsu? I think it would have basically the same effect if he just puts himself under a genjutsu.

Hatake Kakashi had to get over the victims of him that have died in battle, so he were to never speak of it again except for only imagining it once again.

Obito was fully aware of the fact that acquiring the nine-tails was necessary to achieve the infinite-tsukuyomi, but what ended up happening begs the question of why he didn't just TAKE Kurama. I understand Obito's mindset of "Oh, everything will be okay once I complete the infinite-tsukuyomi, because I can re-create them in my dream world..." But the whole point of the moon-eye-plan is to cease the violence and hatred within the ninja world. If we look at it from that perspective, then look at what Obito actually did, his actions make no sense.

He extracts Kurama AND THEN, instead of just taking him to complete the plan, he sets Kurama on the village for his own villainous reasons of "getting revenge" and what have you.

I can concede the matter of why it may be he did what he did, but the plausibility is questionable. The entire purpose of him extracting Kurama, supposedly, was to obtain him for the gedo statue, BUT HE DIDN'T DO THAT. He easily could have, but chose to destroy Konoha instead. That was never a part of the plan, not really, but instead a bonus, if you will, for Madara because of his hatred for the village. I don't think it's plausible that Obito would sympathize with Madara to that extent, not if it meant him having to kill Minato, Kushina, AND Naruto. It just doesn't make any real sense.
