Just curious how many of you get so wrapped up in a show (anime or other), get to know the characters, diligently (or obsessively) watch it...only to feel that empty feeling once the credits fade out and you realize its over. Even if the series was emotionally eye opening, or just action packed awesome.

so really, I want to know if you guys feel the same way; or if you feel something else :D
also which series has most affected you when it ended!

cheers!

p.s
The one that affected me the most was Little Busters!...I felt incredibly sad AND happy at once it was over. Couldn't do anything other then sit there staring at my blank TV till it was 5 in the morning...

Every show that I really liked left me feeling sad when it ended, I think Cowboy Bebop was the worst because it was the first anime I ever watched and when it was over I didn't have anything else to ease the fall. I think jumping right into another show helps get over that empty feeling.

But I have to say that the saddest I've ever been at the end of a story was for Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I started reading those books when I was 12 years old and I felt closer to those characters than most humans in my life, I wandered around in a daze for a week.

yeah I get the occasional man tears after a really good show and feel sort of empty through out the day , but then I find another anime I really like and the cycle continues.

I think the worst was the lord of the rings, I was just a child when the first movie came out. I didn't even want to watch it but my parents made me, thank God they did. That night my dad gave me all three books and I read them before the week ended. I think I was 7 or 8?
I never thought it would happen again.. Then I read that Naruto was ending and I don't think I'm ready for that kind of feel.

I felt my heart was ripped apart after finishing Steins;Gate, same thing with Code Geass.

I felt that way after watching Madoka Magica. I cure that feeling by either watching it over or just finding another series to get into.

Felt so depressed after Black Butler... Took me two weeks until I was able to watch anything else after.
Then Death Note (Both anime and manga.).... The feels was strong with this one.
Also, Harry Potter was the WORST. I was a wreck after the last film. After I stopped crying from sadness and happiness, I had an epiphany that made me realize that "It was officially over, something that has been with me for more than half my life, is over." . That lasted about a month...

Lots of my favorite shows made me feel that way, like Angel Beats! and Clannad ~ After Story, which made me shed a river of man tears and I felt sorta empty after it ended. Sword Art Online made me feel sad too, but because the relationships and Aincrad were so beautiful and I didn't know what to do with my life when I finished it, until I picked up another anime.

This doesn't happen too often for me with anime, though I do get it with visual novels. SInce a visual novel is a bigger investment in time due to the format, and because of the way most of them work (make choices to decide your route/ending), it's really jarring when I get to the actual end: after playing this game for over a week, often much longer than that, I've exhausted all the options it has to offer. I usually feel a little lost at that point. Virtue's Last Reward, Katawa Shoujo, and Little Busters! all had this sort of effect on me.

No, not really. The end of Elfen Lied was a little depressing, but it's hard for me to get choked up by anime. Maybe because life has jaded me a bit, but fiction doesn't get to me. Reality does.
