Looks like there could be some love on the beach in the near future... The question is, with which girl (or guy...)?

Chapter 11: Yuu is forced to deal with his anti-social insecurities by their boss at the beach restaurant. Fuuka helps him out by teasing him. In the end, he wears himself out, but gets a HUGE bonus for his efforts! (Gotta wonder how he ended up in that enviable position and how big of a back-flip his brain will do when he wakes up! Lucky boy! Enjoy it!)

Wellll. Look what Crunchy just picked up:

/forumtopic-846553/new-manga-titles-starting-with-fuuka

Fuuka will be available TODAY, 4/15 at 4:00pm PST, simul-published with full catalog.

ETA: I started reading it last night. This about takes the cake for girls flying off the handle and hitting guys with impunity for perceived (but mistaken) bad behavior. I frickin' hate that trope.

So awesome that CR picked this up. We needed a replacement for A Town Where you Live and what better to replace it with than the mangaka's next work? So far I really am enjoying the series.

Fuuka is a breath of fresh air, to make a really bad pun, and a pretty strong character. Yuu, while kind of a standard milquetoast lead, is at least a bit different. He isn't just plain and boring, but plain, boring, and pathologically shy, as well as addicted to life on-line, where he presents a nice fictitious picture of himself, never revealing his true self.

The "I can live fine without a phone" concept from Fuuka combined with Yuu's dependence on his as his only social outlet makes a nice dichotomy. With the most recent few chapters, the love triangle is nicely set-up. (Or is it a polygon, with one homosexual side? LOL)

I love the character of Mikasa, since he, so far, hasn't been entirely used as comic relief and is presented as openly gay and proud of it. That is something new and different in a non-LGBT centered romantic comedy. I feel about him the same way I feel about the lesbian romance side-plot in Inari Konkon Koi Iroha. It is refreshing to see it taken seriously in a manga that is not aimed at that audience or aimed at the Yaoi fangirl/Yuri fanboy/girl audience. (Since I am probably someone who fits into the Yuri fanboy category my views may be a bit lily colored... I hope Seo doesn't stop at one gay character!)

[EDIT]I do wonder what the heck Seo means by "Citrus Girl" on page 5 of the 2nd chapter. Does anybody know what this is a reference to? (I had practically convinced myself that it was an artifact of the fan translation originally, but the fact that CR has it too suggests it is really what it says. Incidentally, I believe the screen name of the translator for the scanilation is Citrus, which is why I had been thinking it was some personal comment by the translator...)

Notice on page 11, the first response to his Tweet about being fed habanero salad and exploding eggs is from "Yamato". Wouldn't it be hilarious if Fuuka's dad was one of Yuu's followers on Twitter? Imagine when they meet, Yamato figures out who Yuu-kun is, thinks back to this tweet, puts two and two together and says, "You mean my daughter made her boyfriend exploding eggs too? Like mother like daughter!"

A great chapter. I loved the touching moment when Yuu, once again, made the discovery that real life with Fuuka beats twitter by a mile. The slapstick shirt lift is a bit too much. Makes one wonder how long it will be before she doesn't mind him lifting her shirt like that?

The big test comes when Koyuki pays a visit to the beach! Will Yuu-kun tell Fuuka that he knows her before she shows up and throws her arms around him? Will Fuuka put two and two together and figure out whe Koyuki wrote her love songs for? Will Yuu ever get a clue about how either of the girls feels about him?

Too bad we have to wait two weeks.

The best I can come up with is yuzu = citrus and ko = girl/child
Seo is obviously speaking of Yuzuko Nonohara who will make a guest appearance sometime in the near future!

Looks like it's the entire magazine taking next week off, since Yamada, UQ Holder, and Wagatsuma are all listed as May 6th too... (Those are the other Tuesday WSM series I read...)

This is a great series so far, I could see it making a good show in the future, but it probably won't happen. But the characters and story are great so far.

I agree that it would make a good anime, from the way Seo has written it so far. There have been several scenes that I thought were almost tailor-made for anime, like the "failure to meet" scene when they went on their first date. That would work better as anime, as would the end of chapter 12...

Fuuka tried to nuke eggs just like her mother, and they blew up in Yuu's face just like they did with Yamato. Apples don't fall far from the tree!
