It helps me maintain my composure. It's how I let go of pent-up anger, simply because it makes me happy and distracts me from the world any problems and focuses me on the new world that is happening on the screen.

Reading these responses, I have to wonder if the original post was actually meant as the philosophical challenge some seem to assume. . .Meanwhile, I admit to several activities that seem to contribute to my overall emotional well-being, such as drinking hot tea, reading (particularly poetry), and watching anime. And while I do think that my sanity is beyond their influence, my mood most certainly is not. I am not a nice person without my morning tea, period. And being deprived of books and anime can also darken my mood, although it usually takes longer. . .

I think you understood me the best. It is not that i 'm thinking about killing people or that anime has become a way of escapism.
I'm gonna tell you guys a little bit about myself so that you guys have a better idea of who I am and what I meant by my original post.
So here is goes, i'm 21 years old, born in Colombia, raised in Aruba, Currently living and studying Economics in the Netherlands. As for hobbies, i love to write random stuff that comes up to my head, i'm actually a very good guitar player and I've had 1 girlfriend in my entire life.
My issue with the sanity problem is that (maybe) i'm going through that thing in life where you start questioning so many things in your life and things that happens around you. On the out side, you never notice it, i never tell people about these stuff, because i don't know anyone who would actually listen to this kind of stuff except for the internet or tumblr (where i write a lot of stuff lol). So anime is for me that kind of silencer that shuts down all that background noise coming from the world. This world is full of stuff that i love, but sometimes..... it seems that all the people around me are just driven by consumptionism greed and many other things that i don't really agree. That's basically a piece of my sanity and much more though but i would need a whole book to explain in more details what it is.

I wouldn't say it keeps me sane but it does make life a tad more relaxing. They're certain things in my life I want to push aside, and in the time spent watching anime is allows me to take a breather from those things. I know I have to come back to the reality of my own situations but as long as I can relax for a bit, it makes life that much less stressful.

Yes. In high school especially, it helped me keep from snapping. (Well--mostly). Today it's more like a way to unwind at the end of the day. Some of the more depressing ones don't help, but the happier, fluffy kind of shows are a great way for me to recharge and provide stress relief. (It's better than turning to alcohol or drugs to "escape" from life's problems for a little while). Provided Anime doesn't interfere with real life obligations (such as a job, school, other commitments), then there's nothing wrong with saying a hobby keeps you sane, IMHO. The key here is doing everything in moderation.

It does for me. After watching shows like Attack on Titan, it gives me faith in Humanity to not do stupid shit again.

Yes, I need Anime.

No it just entertains me
What keeps me sane is me being productive. Otherwise I'd feel like a failure and that'd stress me out.

It's mostly just entertainment, but every now and then, a couple episodes of anime can help me cool off after a rough day.

It keeps me relaxed during times of stress, but I think I could manage without if I absolutely had to.
Putting myself on a weekly schedule of rewards keeps me chugging until the busy times past. It lets me take my mind off of how much work I have, or how badly I'm doing, which quickly sends me on a downward spiral of shame and unproductiveness.
