Sorry if this is the wrong place haha.

Anyways my wallpaper use to be above my taskbar but now they're combined. I've done more research on this than I should have and amazingly still don't have a solution. Any tips are appreciated. I have windows 8 by the way.

Did you swap from Windows XP to Windows 8? If so, that's a change in Windows that you've likely missed. The wallpaper is supposed to appear behind the taskbar now.

The only way you can fix it is by editing the wallpaper.

This is how I do it:
1.) Take a screenshot of the desktop (Use the "Prt Scr"-button on the keyboard).
2.) Open a photo editing program, like Adobe Photoshop.
3.) Paste (Ctrl+V) the screenshot into the photo editing program.
4.) Open up the wallpaper with the photo editing program.
5.) Select (Crtl+A) and copy (Ctrl+C) the wallpaper.
6.) Paste (Ctrl+V) the wallpaper over the screenshot.
7.) Adjust the height, or crop the edges of the wallpaper so that it aligns with the taskbar in the screenshot.
8.) Fill in the taskbar in the screenshot with the color of preference.
9.) Save the new wallpaper, with a new name (to not overwrite the original wallpaper).

It takes less than a minute when you know how to do it.

I may be wrong...

But...

Windows 8, the Wallpaper has always appeared behind (or as you put it combined with) the Taskbar.

Also may be wrong...

But..

The taskbar is transparent, so it isn't like it is hiding anything from your Wallpaper, unless it means that much to you to actually see every single detail of a Wallpaper including that like less than 5% that is covered up by the transparent taskbar.

Your icons probably hide more of the wallpaper than the taskbar will.

Nah that's the thing. I got a new laptop and it came with windows 8. The wallpaper was always above the taskbar until I messed with the contrast themes lol. Not exactly sure what made it switch to that.

I'm on windows 7 so i can't say this will help but you may have messed with your picture position in your desktop background settings. They have different ones like center, fill, stretch, fit, etc... You probably had it on "fit" before which puts a little black bar on top and bottom like widescreen. Depending on the images size it can display differently if it does not match your screen resolution exactly. Maybe this will give you a clue as I don't have windows 8 so I can't tell you how to do it on windows 8. This link might help though http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/personalize-pc-tutorial

although some usefull advice it helps to be as detailed as possible when trying to trouble shoot a computer issue. Your description can be interpreted in a many different ways.

If you want it so your task bar disappears you are looking for the sttings for "auto hide task bar" and "lock taskbar". Not sure which one and I don't feel like messing with my own settings to find out. I would think the "lock taskbar" setting but it may be a combination of the two.
