It seems pretty clear to me from everyone's comments that CR is having substantial infrastructure problems on their side. The primary website is very frequently very slow, as are the forums. Getting content to work from the PS3 is a dice roll. Oddly, once the stream starts I never have any issues with the content. Its getting the stream to start is the problem. It seems folks are having similar issues on almost every platform.

And the deafening silence from CR seems to indicate they dont have any immediate plans to address any of this. I just started my premium subscription and I'm close to cancelling it. I would have done so already if not for the great content on here, but I cannot support a business that wont communicate with their customers...

I've been having lots of issues streaming as well. I first thought it was just my ps3 but now I came to the website and realize I'm not getting any better results. Some of the videos on the ps3 won't start at all, if they do star they only run for a few minutes and then freeze. Same issue with CR's website as well. Even shows I streamed flawlessly a few weeks ago, now are unwatchable. Please address this issue CR.

Ditto to this. Doesn't matter where I attempt to play videos from (PC, PS4, cell phone); assuming I can get the video to load at all, it will then stutter and lag to the point it is un-watchable. Loading the webpage (including the forums) is slow or won't even load at times. Seems to be ongoing for at least a month and a bit now, and like everyone else I have no issues with my other streaming video providers (Netflix, etc).

An official CR response on these issues would go a long way to keeping my (and I'm sure others) subscription active, as I don't see the point in paying for a service I cannot use.

Out of curiosity, if you enter CR's website via a free proxy like this one, is it still as slow?

NOTE: As a free proxy, it should be slower than normal, so if it is faster than your connection without it, that would be quite suspicious.

Right now it's about the same on the proxy as it is off, but the issue is fairly intermittent. Loading the site currently is somewhat bearable (though still not as good as it was, say a few months ago), but when I posted that a couple of hours ago I could barely load the page at all.

During these periods in the past, I have attempted to watch a video and/or load the site from my work PC and from my cell phone off WiFi (so via mobile carrier). These have yielded the same result, which is pretty much what I described above. Videos generally load, but are almost always stuttering/buffering/whatever, which makes them un-watchable. And the site is generally slow to load, occasionally just timing out completely.

Been a happy member for quite some time, until these issues started happening in past month and a half or so. Stumbled across this thread (and other similar ones) here in the forum in my search for answers. It's nice to see other people having the same problem (don't take that the wrong way anyone, just for my own sanity since I've been trying to figure this out), but not nice to see no response from CR whatsoever.

For me, the proxy is noticeably slower (especially for the initial load) than without it. You may want to keep that link handy and try it again if you have another session where it is really slow, and report back that finding.

As for no response from CR, I haven't seen much activity from customer service in the forum lately. Checking the forum does come after addressing direct contacts (e.g., the "Contact Us" form submissions, e-mail), so it may be they are being kept too busy lately to get to the forums by the end of the day.

Aside from possibly my location (the mid-south US), another factor that might differentiate me from those having issues is that I run NoScript (for Firefox). I wouldn't expect it to have any positive effect on video issues, but for the forum, it could be blocking a script from a third party server that was "holding up the works".

Probably relevant to this discussion: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/02/verizon-seeks-payment-for-carrying-netflix-traffic-wsj-reports/

Like many others in this thread, I am also a Verizon customer. My traffic to CR also transits via Cogent. Perhaps this is also affecting CR traffic?

Just out of curiosity, could any non-Verizon customers in this thread speak to if they are having these types of issues with CR?

Right now it's simply unwatchable for me, every show just breaks off after a minute or two. Stutter-show for the last 40 minutes.
edit: and no, my internet connection is definitely not the issue, i could watch CR @ 720p on 3 devices at the same time with my available bandwidth.
I'm located in germany though so there may be plenty more bottlenecks possible from here to CR servers...

I'm in a location with fiber internet. my roommate works for the ISP and is one of the tech support people. If there is a problem he drives to work and just fixes it himself instead of putting in a support ticket. I -know- my connection is not to blame. That aside i've had issues the past 2 days but have had no problems prior to this. Also for me its not universal bad services but just a few specific series that act up (none are simulcasts, just old series)

I really do still believe that these issues are a hardware or network capacity on Crunchyroll's end. When you expect the heaviest traffic, it gets worse. Yet, at the same time, I can stream shows just fine from other anime streaming sites. Hopefully, CR will get on the ball and fix this. As it is, the issues make their manga service next to impossible to use.

Came home today, tried to watch Strike The Blood 19 at 720p. After 20 minutes of stop-and-go, the progress bar was showing 9 minutes.
So while cursing soundly, I closed the failure-by-design flash player, fired up my bittorrent client and downloaded the whole 1080p version in less than six minutes. Watching that, did NOT make up for the ruined first nine minutes though!

Someone at CR needs to stop blaming the people's crappy internet setups and start looking at the CR servers and the horrible flash player that can't even handle buffering properly.
If you can't figure out whats wrong, build diagnostic tools. Im sure most people with CR problems would love to install them, in order to help get things fixed.

Not sure, if you noticed, but there is not one file server on the bittorrent network, yet it is so tremendously faster than this.
I still hope that someday someone puts one and one together, in order to figure out, that a pure client/server architecture is not going to cut it for streaming.

I am currently connected at 81 MBps down and about 36 MBps up. I tested the ethernet connection with my laptop using the same ethernet line that is swapped between my PS3 and AppleTV.

This week, it has been horrible the speeds using Crunchyroll. Tonight, it is unusable. I been attempting to watch shows for 50+ minutes now, and I can not get any shows to load up on either the PS3 or the AppleTV. However, Hulu+ is working fine on both of them.

Please add whatever your need in terms of infrastructure. Crunchyroll in the past week is getting as bad as what Funimation was a year or two ago.

Unable to retrieve data errors on the PS3, and Failed to connect/load errors on the AppleTV.
