Natsume Yujinchou Is the Best Anime Ever
Posted 2/11/14 , edited 3/1/15
Um, no.

It doesn't suit my taste. There's no interesting dialogue, and the characters are just doing mundane things that don't add anything to the story. I also find that cat's voice and dialogue annoying.

I wouldn't say it's the best, don't get me wrong it's 10/10 for me I love it to death!, though I see how it's probably not everyone's cup of tea, This show is very light and gentle yet is very thought provoking. I enjoy little episodics like this one, reminds me of Usagi Drops in that way, where I feel all warm and fuzzy after watching it. Nyanko sensei is pretty amazing (fave character!) and Natsume has a way of nudging you to be a better person and having a better outlook on life. Not to mention the animation/music/plot as a whole is wonderful as well.

For me it is not the best, of even the recent animes, let alone all time. However it is certainly on my top 20 of recent series... no doubt it is well worth being watched.

That said, strictly shonen fans need not apply, as it will most likely do nothing for you... this is aimed at an older audience (it is technically shojo, but I think more mature males can and will enjoy the series).

This is my favorite anime hands down. The characters are beautiful inside and out and the story is so peaceful and beautiful that you just totally fall in love with everything. Rewatching an episode never fails to bring me to a smile, tears, or both! I totally recommend this to anyone who just needs a heart warming show.

For those who have seen this show, give your reason for why people should be watching Natsume!

Hold up hold up hold up.....is that all?

With such a title, I expected gushing. I'm talking paragraphs as to why you like the show so I would read it and go "hmmm, perhaps I should give it a try!"

But, you told me so little about the show. Is it something tearful? Well written? Is the Art simply to your liking? Is it a comedy/Dramady? Should I expect something heavy in emotional power? What's the plot? Couldn't you have gone into more detail, at least the English Translation of the title? Perhaps a picture to know what I'm to expect?

I mean come on now, if that's how much you're going to argue for the show, should I even bother? You clearly like it enough to make a thread, but why not elaborate on why you like it so much?

But 4 Seasons from Brain Base? That's one good resume, I'll give it that.

It must be wonderful getting into debates with people that disagree with you.

I'm on season four, and enjoying it!
Its somewhat episodic, but i'm sure you'll find it alright.

If you haven't tried it out yet, go for it!

Fine, I'll watch it. It's one of those series I always browse by and consider but then realize there's something else I want to see more.

Is it episodic or does it have an over arching story?

That's actually a good question to ask. I want to know the same thing because I really don't enjoy episodic anime no matter how acclaimed a series may be.

It is mostly episodic, but there are plot developments and over arching stories in the series. I watch all of it and I recommend it.

I've watched about 5 episodes so far. I don't like it, there's a huge "monster of the week" feel that keeps the plot from advancing. There aren't enough females, the protagonist is rather bland, and the cat thing is kind of irritating.

Meh, I don't know about my need for epic plot twists, but nothing will kill an anime for me faster than having to deal with a one-off new character every episode. I'm dropping this for the same reason I dropped SKET Dance, The World God Only Knows, One Piece, Soul Eater, Pokemon, Good Luck Girl!, and any other title I can't think of at the moment

well i really like it

it's fairly calm, but also funny, Nyanko sensei is such a tsundere lol. i love everything about it, its peacefulness, its thin line between what's good what's bad, the characters, and dang Natsume always looks so freakin graceful each time he returns a name. This show & Mushishi are my favorite slice-of-life anime, I just love the feeling they give off after I watch an episode. ^^

I've convinced a few others to watch this as well!

My favorite parts are Natsume's and Madara's interactions!
