Winter Olympics 2014
Posted 2/13/14 , edited 2/13/14
The 2014 Winter Olympics are in full swing now and I'm curious if anyone else out there is following them. After all you don't need to be a diehard sports fan to support your country as these athletes have made a lot of their own sacrifices to represent us c: The USA men's hockey team just opened up their first game today with a 7-1 win over Slovakia leaving me pretty excited about their chances for gold. So what country are you rooting for and are there any sports/events in particular you're interested in?

Here are the medal totals thus far. It's still early but I'll update it as more events pass ^.^

yeeees i've been watching up with every day, even have nbc's app installed on my phone.

and that wasn't the first USA hockey team game... it was the first USA Men's Hockey team. The women have already played 3 games, winning two, lost a game against Canada yesterday.

well if it wasn't obvious I'm pulling for USA haha, I love most of the events (not sold on curling yet lol), but ice skating and snowboarding are my favorite. I'm especially rooting for Jason Brown in ice skating (he placed 6th in men's today) after seeing his glorious Riverdance in the US nationals.

I'm not really a sports person, but I'm watching a bit. I liked the opening ceremonies though they were not the best...But then again, anything is better than London's opening. Ugh.

Obviously, I'm Team USA, but I wish everyone the best. Hope everything remains safe, and all have a good time and give it their all. Even if you don't win a medal, you're still the best of the best.

USA men's hockey team just defeated Russia 3-2 in a small upset. Three periods couldn't decide it. Overtime couldn't decide it. They won it in 8 shots in a sudden death shootout c:

I've noticed a lot of the events aren't televised because the time differences between here and Russia. All games and events can be watched live on NBC's website http://stream.nbcolympics.com/nbcsn-coverage/winter/15510/?nid=14999_282

the men's skating was a little disappointing last night :/ Even the gold medalist from Japan, Hanyu Yuzuru, didn't do as well as he did in the short program. In fact, it was probably the short program that earned him the medal since he broke records with that score. And my lil puppy Jason Brown also faltered in the dance he had excelled in so well at US Nationals.

Also, USA beat Russia's hockey team today although there's controversy about the goal that Russia scored before they entered into overtime; tbh I think it was a little silly (the goal was hardly off), but at the same time it probably saved us the game so... idk I'm a little torn about it. I want us to win but I want it to be fair.

^ i like to watch curling teams just to see their pant designs
