Well that just became the best thing I've read on the forums to date.

I doubt most parents force anime on their kids. LOL I know that in my house there are multiple t.v.'s and computers (not to mention a tablet or two) I'm sure now a days, most homes are like this to some extent. When the kids want to watch something with me, we either pile into the livingroom or my room (to watch on my computer), but it's never a 'you must watch this with us!' situation.. (usually my son would rather play minecraft or build with legos or read and does just that)

I give you props though two kids in college is awesome. sounds like your doin things right!

Im 34 Years old Married to a 40 yr old guy, we have 2 kids a little girl who is turning 3 and a boy who is 6. My son is only now starting to show an interest in Anime, he asks me questions and will sometimes watch a show with me. I started liking anime when I was 15 years old, I am a female gamer and met my husband on Everquest some years ago, I ended up immigrating to Canada to live with him and raise a family. He is well aware of my Otaku habits and he also likes to watch anime although not to the extent that I do.

My son likes Tanks and so he has watched a few episodes of girls und panzer. I watch most of my anime after the kids are in bed though, I'll leave it up to them if as they get older they want to show an interest in it. I personally like slicer of life and adventure stuff, like Silver spoon, blue exorcist , Magi , Durara , Kids on the Slope, stuff that makes me think a bit

I never force my daughter to watch anime. She may very well grow up to be a stylish prep kid. My worst enemy in school is now living under my roof LOL. Dear G-d no!! Anyway I want to raise her to accept people for who they are no matter their hobbies and preferences. I'm Jewish and I dont wish to force her to date another Jewish person or believe in a deity if she doesnt wish to choose so. My family foundation is "Love and Peace"!!! trigun

If you and your partner are both Otakus there is no reason to change your habits.

I will never know. When I procreate, perhaps through mitosis, my children shall, obviously, rise against me. We shall fight each other to the death, and the surviving shall absorb the fallen, and with that they will absorb any knowledge and experiences that the fallen had. So if I lose, my children essentially becomes a version of me with my knowledge and memories. They shall take the name Phersu and then go out and terrorize the world. If they can best me.

I am married have two little ones (3 yr old girl, 5 yr old boy) and two more girls on the way (due in late July/early August). My wife doesn't like anime or all of the same TV programs I like. This has led to, well, compromise as I don't like all the things she likes. It just happens that way. She'll watch some things I like, I'll watch some things she likes, we'll both end up absorbing & appreciating it more than we let on (her with Angel, Agents of SHIELD; me with Grey's Anatomy).

In terms of what I watch? It's changed over the years mostly as a function of my personality adjusting and maturing. When I first got into anime, I watched basically whatever just to figure out what I liked. This included all manner of stuff I wouldn't watch now cause it's inappropriate, I'd not be interested, or I just don't feel like seeing it again. Currently, I'm watching Blue Exorcist. I'd watch it around my kids, but with my son being scared of...lots of things, I'm afraid it might give him nightmares. My 3 yr old daughter would probably be less scared.

In terms of what I'm showing my kids? They're really little so they're watching mostly Nick Jr (Dora, Peppa Pig, Max & Ruby) and Disney Jr (Mickey Mouse, Jake & Neverland Pirates). My kids also, for some reason, really enjoy Rabbids Invasion. I'm not sure why. In terms of anime I have so far introduced them to Poyo-Poyo. They seem to really like the ball shaped kitty!

I don't have kids if I did I wouldn't let them miss out of some of the master pieces from anime such as Death Note, Steins Gate and such but ofcourse you need to be at a certain age to completely get into series such as them so I think I'll probably start with 1st season of pokemon maybe dbz and kid animes+cartoons and probably hxh+/naruto

I know for me personally, I've asked myself a lot of these questions. I'm not married or have kids but I feel like I would want to avoid ecchi, or anything with overloads of fan service. I definitely want them to love anime, mangas, comic books, movies but I don't want my kids to looking at stuff that make seem women a little ridiculous. That is of course my opinion, I watch some shows that contain some of it or read mangas that have some of it but most of them actually have good stories, and my mind is mature enough to understand it's not the way things are. Plus there are lots of anime that are amazing that have good stories and have little to no fan service.

That seems like such a sweet situation...I can't even have Children. I wish I could...If so, Methinks one Day, I would eventually introduce them to Anime. Hopefully it would run in the Family. But...Pipe Dreams..

You can always adopt, even if you can't have biological children. I have 2 biological siblings & 5 adopted siblings. Adoption is great!
